After a successful Kickstarter campaign which raised over $10,000, the producers of "Priced Out" are completing the final reporting and production stages and headed into the editing phase. Now, we're launching a second, smaller fundraising campaign to pay for ongoing costs.
The film is on target for completion in winter 2015/early 2016. All contributions go to project-related costs. Thanks to our crowd funding campaigns, we plan to distribute the project online for free after initial broadcast, theatrical and community screening releases.
"Priced Out" follows Williams as she decides to sell her home--built by Habitat for Humanity--and move to Dallas, Texas in search of a new black community. Williams, the protagonist of the first film, remains a fearless, straight-talking force of nature. Williams propels the film by lending a dramatic and personal dimension to the conversation about gentrification.
In 2015 Williams sold her home after saying she had had enough of gentrification and Oregon's "color blind racism."
Priced Out reexamines the public policy and economic forces propelling gentrification both in Portland, Ore. and around the country.

Using some of the original projects 125 hours of footage, along with new interviews, the film will be a time-lapse portrait of changes in the life of Williams and the neighborhood, not unlike Michael Apted’s famous "7 & Up" series.
Most of the footage for this film has already been shot. All the interviews with Williams and her daughter have been conducted and the original source footage for the first film is intact and in good shape.
The film is being produced by Cornelius Swart and Spencer Wolf, two local residents who also teamed up to produce the original film. Swart is a reporter and former hyperlocal newspaper publisher who has covered North/Northeast Portland for over 15 years. Wolf now works for a video editing company in Los Angeles.
