Highlights
Mountain Filled 2 Projects Mountain Filled 2 Projects

Uganda has one of the highest child mortality rates in the world. Thousands die from preventable diseases like malaria and HIV/AIDS, and millions are afflicted with parasite worm infections and sicknesses like anthrax, bilharzia, cholera, and diarrhea. UNICEF estimates 250,000 preventable deaths annually in Uganda - especially in the Under 5 age group.

In rural areas of western Uganda this situation worsens due to lack of clinics and medicine. Additionally, the area has been afflicted with civil wars, from the neighboring Congo, resulting in a high rate of orphans.  45% of deaths in this region are caused by Malaria. The HIV/AIDS rate is also extremely high - 13% of the population.

To combat this we’ve set up two clinics in the Ruwenzori mountain region.

Rachel Lynn Edler Clinic serves 155 nursery school children in the small town of Kyarumba.

Prevention of parasites is emphasized at the clinics. Mental health is crippled by worms - 3.75 IQ points are lost per parasite infection. A Uganda study revealed 12.8% of children are infected with with hookworms, 9.6% with Schistosomiasis (Bilharzia), 4.3% with Ascaris, 8.5% with Giardia (protozoa) and 7.4% with Entamoeba histolytica.

Both clinics are staffed with medics and medicine, but the funds are drying up in 1 month, and we’re hoping you can help. We need $1,000 for each clinic.

The medicine and supplies we need include: Cotton wool, first aid plaster, dextrose, normal saline, genta eye, dispensable gloves, gauze, basicody, zinc, plaster roll, Coartem (for malaria), Mebendazole (for worms), multivitamins, hydrogen peroxide, idone tincture, diazepam, stripe bandage, magnesium, Clotrimazole, Oral rehydration salts, Paracetamol, Vitamin k, ampicilin, Vitamin C, Piriton, Anti-Malaria testing strips. The cost of medicine for each clinic is about $80 month

The cost of the medic is an additional $40 month per clinic. The medics diagnose diseases, dispense curatives, and train the community in hygiene and disease prevention.

Can you can help these wonderful children have healthy lives? The average lifespan in Uganda is only 55 years, almost 1/3 less than USA average.

If you donate $20, that provide medicines for one clinic for a week. $50 pays the medic for a month. $80 provides medicine for a month.

All donors receive a tax deductible receipt from Brighter Brains Institute, the 501c3 sponsoring non-profit.

Everyone who donates also receives a free e-book: Brighter Brains: 225 ways to elevate or injure IQ

Anyone who donates $40 or more receives a H+ Clinic t-shirt, and regular reports from the medic of the clinic.

Uganda desperately needs health assistance because $280 million in foreign aid was cut in 2013, due to Uganda governmental corruption and graft. Several nations - Sweden, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, and United States - also reduced their foreign aid to Uganda in 2014, due to displeasure with anti-gay bills.
