Come join us in this modern day barn raising!  Raise a hammer with us no matter where you live in our great nation and together, we can build this formulary!

Please help Anderson Family Farm build a formulary to meet the needs of our growing natural goat milk body care business. We need to upgrade our facilities to formulate and package our artisan products more efficiently.  Our artisan products are high touch and individually made, from carefully formulating the natural ingredients all the way to packaging and sending them out to you!

It all starts with our goats and their rich milk.  Kinder goat milk is rich in butterfat making it perfect for the lotions, soaps and butters we create.  We follow organic standards on our farm and maintain a healthy, thriving herd that grazes on our 16 acres in the fresh central Washington breeze. We live on a beautiful farm just outside the small college town of Ellensburg, Washington, which also happens to host the world famous Ellensburg Rodeo every Labor Day weekend.

Our formulary would be approximately 1600 square feet on the main floor, with an upper room for a future intern program.  We have a vision to be able to house those who would love to come to our farm, learn about goats, milking and farming, and all that we have gained along the way about a family owned business.  The outer shell would look much like our white barn, though the interior would be designed to enable us to produce a higher volume of products in a much more efficient way.  We also envision opening our formulary one weekend a month for our guests to delight in a farm to table dinner experience!  In the deep of winter when our farm chores slow down, we will offer cheese-making classes to all who wish to learn.

We sell our artisan products at various farmers’ markets, online through our website, and at selected retailers around the northwest, as well as special events.  Our products contain healing ingredients and natural preservatives. Your skin is the largest organ in your body; what goes on your skin is absorbed within minutes into your blood stream.  Therefore, it is vital that you apply natural, fresh products to your skin.  Each of our products created meets this standard.  As our product reach and reputation grows, we need to be able to keep up with customer demand without compromising our product quality.

We are ready to expand our reach by building a formulary to accomplish the following goals:

1.  Construct this building entirely debt free; we want to owe no debt but the debt of love and grow our business on a cash only basis.  We seek to be a model  for other local, small farms on how to not only create natural, fresh products, but also show how to live successfully on a family farm.

2.  Utilize a dedicated area for the formulation of our more than 100 products; a larger space will not only speed up production, but allow us to produce larger batches, enabling us to meet the growing demand of our retail and wholesale customers.  We need bigger and better tools to help us achieve economies of scale we cannot reach currently.

3.  Serve as a base of operations to launch an internship program; we seek to teach what we have learned about goats, farming, and running a family business to people who have an interest and passion for artisan products, slow food, sustainable farming and organic standards.  We desire to inform and engage a whole new generation of small farmers.

4.  Return meaningful factory work to America by providing employment here in our valley for people who want to work, buy and sell locally.  We need models of how this can work; we are proving that it can, and we are ready to take the next step, with your help.

Our project funding will be invested like this:

Let’s hear from
Anderson Family Farm:

  • Millie Joy: “People tell me that our goats are very cultured, because I love to go out to the barn and read aloud to the goats and play my violin for them! I also help with labeling soap and shrink wrapping lip balm. ”
  • Kimberlee: “I love our family business, farm and goats, and all that they have given to our lives.  I really love formulating!  I think of it like a beautiful ballet – filled with perfect timing, temperatures and consistent precision.  I am so blessed to see all the ways our family has been stretched and grown through this business.  I love going from milking to the finished product. The grand finale for me is in sales and marketing where I get to meet many new and encouraging people, to hear about how our products have blessed and healed so many.”
  • Lewis: “I love film making   Creating videos for our business is a great opportunity for me to exercise these skills and interests.  I keep up our online business presence through various social media outlets.  I also work in our shipping department.  I am actively involved in all of the farm work and goat husbandry.  Having a family business gives me a great opportunity to work together with my family and our customers; it has also grown my determination in every area of my life!”
  • Grace: “I’m thankful and excited I can play an active role in our family business.  I love writing and photography; the blog and the website are the perfect canvas for me to practice those arts.  I formulate the Salt Scrub and Lip Balm.  I also label hundreds of our products every week.  I love sales and marketing, and one of my favorite things about selling our products is the hands-on experience I get to enjoy with our customers at the Farmer’s Market and other events!”
  • Mary Beth: “I love inventory and organizing product.  I also help with the soap making process.  I love to assist my mom in goat milk lotion formulating and bottling.  I really love that we can work and grow together as a family through our family business!”
  • Rick: “It is a delight for me to see our entire family pulling together to work for a common vision.  Each has different skill sets and talents, but it blends wonderfully each day as we work and celebrate our efforts for God’s glory!”
  • We also want to thank our grown blessings with families of their own, who have helped us countless times on festivals, sales, product testing, marketing strategies and enormous amounts of encouragement!

If a little over 7,000 of you would support us with just $21 each, we will meet our goal!  Even if you are not able to support this project right now, we would be most grateful if you could pass the word along about our project to your friends and social network.

With God’s pure grace and your help, we can all raise a hammer and build a new formulary together!

Thank you and may God bless you abundantly!
