Overview
Mona Relief has been carried out over 180 projects in Yemen since the war started in 2015. This year, 2018, unfortunately, the war is still going on, but that dosen't stop us. Our goal this year will be to provide Ramadan packages to 20.000 families with wheat, rice, sugar, cooking oil, powdered milk and medicine. Mona Relief, a 100% Yemeni Organization based in Yemen took the initiative with this campaign. With as simple as 20 EURO, you are able to feed a family for a whole month.

Mona Relief recap 2016 and 2017

We had great success with the campaign from 2016 (#20foryemen) and 2017 (Ramadan Campaign), this year we hope for an even greater success for our 2018 Ramadan campaign. Our activities during 2017 increased rapidly with many projects. Our first fundraising campaign in 2018 sets to begin here, and we hope you will help the people of Yemen to achieve it.

Our own resources are limited, however being independent, we have still achieved the trust of the Yemeni people, and have so far carried out many projects with the help of local and foreign donors.

The crisis in short during 2017 and 2018

Yemen is at the moment the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, with 8.4 million people on the verge of famine. Over 1 million is suspected of being infected with cholera, and thousands have died as a result of the war.

On top of all that, Yemen was blocked in all entry points in November 2017. Almost nothing from food or humanitarian help could enter Yemen, which led to even more starvation. Those responsible for the war have blocked many int’l human rights organizations from traveling into Yemen. Fighting forces have also blocked food and medical supplies and have imposed restrictions on aid workers. And so it goes on 2018.

We can only hope for good, but as a matter of fact, the situation has only got worse. You would think 3 years were enough (1000+ days and counting into the war), but no, the war still goes on, and the biggest losers are the people of Yemen.

Our aim for this Ramadan campaign in 2018

Regardless of the purpose of the project, our aim has always been the same - to serve the helpless people. This year we will focus especially on food and medicine.
During winter 2017 we carried out a lot of clothing projects for the winter, and this year we will start out by our food and medicine projects again.

Our goal for this project will be to reach 30.000 USD in 45 days.

We are planning to visit many of the Yemeni governorates, and with your donations we will carry out the projects. All our projects are documented and pictures of them can be found on our website (www.monareliefye.org) or our twitter (@monarelief).

Our Campaign will provide funds to help families during Ramadan and after it.

$30 can do more than you think

By giving a simple amount of only $30, you are helping a whole family for one month. For each $30 donated we can supply the following for a family for a month:

Every penny counts. Giving 25, 250 or even $2 - the more we donate, the closer we get to the goal. Hundreds of projects have been carried out since we started and over 40.000 families fed. We believe that in spite of the heavy shelling, no one deserves to die hungry or thirsty. The previous projects were carried out in the governorates of Sana'a, Hodeidah, Hajjah , Marib, Dhamar, Amran, Mahweet and Amant al-Asimah, Aden, Taiz and Saada.

The money you donate

Every penny we receive from the donors goes to buy food for Internally displaced families. To give you a calculation, one of our first food distributions from 2015: we bought 149 bags each of which contained: 25 Kg wheat, 5 kg sugar, 5 kg rice and 2L of cooking oil. The total price was 845820 YR which is equal to $2500. Transport costs from Sanaa (Capital of Yemen) to Harf Sofyan (The Area where the food was given) costed 62000 YR which is equal to $248.

By donating $30 you can feed a family for a whole month with 25 kg wheat, 5 kg rice, 5 kg sugar, 2L cooking oil, 1L powdered milk and medicine / aid kits.

We have included milk this time instead of dates, since the demand has been greater for it.

What Is Happening to Yemen?

Saudi Arabia together with a coalition launched a bombing campaign in Yemen on 25 March 2015 and imposed a blockade on all Yemeni sea, land and airports which has restricted entry of all supplies into the country.

• At least one child dies every 10 minutes in Yemen because of preventable diseases such as diarrhea, malnutrition and respiratory tract infections, according to UNICEF.

• 17.8 million people are food insecure including 8.4 million who don't know where their next meal will come from, UNOCHA said.

• More than 2 million children in Yemen are acutely malnourished and require urgent care, including more than least 460,000 suffering from severe acute malnutrition — an increase of almost 200% since 2014

• 3 million people have been displaced since the conflict escalated following the Saudi-led military intervention, UNOCHA.
