Saving Silence
At the mid point of the 1920's Silent Films were the premier entertainment medium, but as interests spiked over advancements in sound recording, the free moving camerawork, of the silent film, was pushed aside.
Until Now...
Team Omerta
- Team Omerta is a nonprofit film production, determined to reignite world interest, in Silent Films.
- Fully funded, Team Omerta will produce a contemporary Silent Film, 'Omerta.'
- Using advanced cinematography, and camera techniques, Omerta will be a colorfully dynamic tribute, to the damaged classics, so easily overlooked, by modern moviegoers.
Though many see black and white, and grainy, film, as a bookmark, of the silent era, Team Omerta is dedicated to revealing the 'true magic,' belonged to an absence of dialogue, allowing personal interpretation, from each viewer. (Now imagine that interpretation, with glorious color, and seamless camera flow!)
Did you know? Omerta is an Italian Mafia term, meaning, "Oath of Silence."

Silence Returns
We can educate the masses all we want, on the validity, of the Silent Era, but unless efforts are made to reinvent, the Silent Film, the Founding Fathers, and Mothers, (That's right, there were female filmmakers, as early as the silent era, see Lois Weber) of film, will fade with each passing generation.
- Imagine a movie, today, that can be understood by every individual, on the planet.
- This movie is not blocked, by the clutter of subtitles.
- If seen by the masses, this renascence of silent films could tear down the cultural divides, that separate our nations, and the petty differences, between societies, might shrink, as less, and less decisive.
Reaching the Summit
Omerta has been under pre-production, for the past six months, and the ever daunting factor, hovering above, is the question of funds:
- Without proper funding, support for artistic layouts, set preparation, and post-production, will fall short.
- As a team of independent filmmakers, the presence of a low budget production, is not unusual.
- However, the goal of Omerta is not to get by, on the basics, but to reignite awareness of silent films.
- Silent Films can be as alive today, as they were a hundred years ago, and the push for a contemporary project will foster a deep seeded admiration, not seen in decades.
- The success of, "The Artist," trailed a subtle nostalgia, for Silent Film, but the narrative was within itself, using the archaic black and white, and low frame rate, to place the audience in the seat, of a 1920's picture house.
- Though effective, the film, "The Artist," came off as a passionate history lesson. (The term, "History," is used loosely, as many actors, of the silent age, had little trouble adjusting to the much longer switch to 'Talkies,' than dramatized, in the film. This includes John Gilbert, the original actor, "The Artist," is based on)
- Omerta will show the world Silent Films can evolve, and the use of color, and deep sound effects, live symbiotic, in absence of dialogue.
Help share the magic
Today, more than ever, the mass libraries of Silent Films is readily available:
- You can help rekindle this lost art
- Check out many of Youtube's silent film channels ( I recommend anything by D.W. Griffith, and Buster Keaton)
- Share these films with friends and family
- Utilize Indiegogo's share tools, and help spread the word, of Team Omerta
- And above all remember, Silence is Golden.
Thank you
