Our Story
We are the Master of Social Work class of 2012 at the University of Hawaii - Manoa. We've spent the last two years taking classes together, working unpaid internships at local social service organizations, and working hard to make it to graduation in May. We need to raise about $2,000 to pay for a special convocation ceremony that is just for student graduating from the school of social work - a special evening that will celebrate the time we've spent together and the accomplishments we've each achieved.
The money raised in this online campaign will go toward this ceremony - paying for the venue, food for students and their guests to enjoy, and the time and talents of contributors to the ceremony. We will also leave behind a little money for next year's graduating class to use as they start their final year. If we are unable to raise money to fund convocation, we will have to sell tickets instead.
The Impact
Convocation is a free event for all students and their families and guests, and we want to keep it that way. Let's work together one more time to contribute a little or a lot and share this campaign far and wide so we can have a fantastic send-off into our professional careers!
What We Need & What You Get
We need to raise about $2,000 total, and we are hoping to be able to raise half of that, $1,000, in this campaign. In addition to this campaign, we are also doing other fundraising activities - a Pizza Hut fundraising night and selling our awesome School of Social Work t-shirts.
The big prize for us all is an awesome convocation ceremony and the chance to invite all of our friends and relatives at no cost. However, along the way, we've set up little incentives to thank you for your contributions. These incentives little ways that we in the Graduate Student Organization have come up with to thank you for your support.
Other Ways You Can Help
Keep your eyes and ears open for our fundraising night with Pizza Hut coming up soon. If you don't have a t-shirt already, buy one. If you've already bought one, buy one for a friend, relative, or colleague. And please share this page on Facebook, email it to your relatives, friends, practicum sites, and wealthy benefactors!
