Save Mongolia’s Endangered Snow Leopard!
The
snow leopard is endangered and only 3500 are left in the wild! Snow leopards
are often solitary and elusive. For decades they were considered ‘ghosts of the
mountains.’ But thanks to new science and lots of hard work, we now know that more
than 20 of these beautiful cats inhabit the Tost Mountains of Mongolia’s South
Gobi. This is the most densely populated habitat in the world!!
Unfortunately,
Tost is located in the southern part of Mongolia—a region where mining activity
is booming. Right now, 22 mining licenses threaten the Tost Mountains. Snow leopards in Tost need your help now!
Help us
make the Tost Mountain into a National Park. Right now, these snow leopard mountains are not securely protected. There
are at least 20 cats, and over 200 herder families who need your help! If we
can make the mountains into a National Park, all mining will be forced to stop.
We
need your help to make a documentary to raise awareness for snow leopards in
Mongolia, and the importance of making Tost into a National Park. This documentary will be shown to politicians
and other decision-makers, and distributed to gain support from the general
public of Mongolia.
If
we can show people how the land is being degraded, we can raise more support
for protecting it.
With
your funds, we will hire an experienced film crew in Mongolia. This film crew
has:

Produced
a series on Mongolian wildlife (the popular “ Environment” show), which has
been widely watched throughout the country;

Been
awarded “The Best of 2014” by Baldorj Fund, Mongolia’s highest award for journalism.;

Received
an award for their international short video during the 16th Hong
