If our current level of overfishing continues, the fish we eat today could disappear within our own lifetime, Which is a big problem because approximately a billion people rely on fish as their primary source of food! (Bell, 11/20/13) As young high school students, we have realized that we are the missing link to saving our oceans. As many aquatic species, the Coho salmon's population has been declining rapidly right in our own backyard. Due to our current fishing practices, the Coho population has become more vulnerable than ever before. In the last 50 years commercial fishing in lakes and rivers has quadrupled. (Bell, 11/20/13)
Please donate today to help preserve the fragile ecosystem our Coho live in. We plan to give 100% of your donations to the Salmon Protection and Watershed Network (SPAWN), a non-profit organization in Marin dedicated to helping protect the Coho. Through restoration projects, campaigning, and education your donation will help save our Coho salmon before it's too late!!
***Sidenote: If possible, please sign our petition (link below), to send to administrator of NOAA Dr, Kathryn Sullivan to start enforcing stricter regulations on fishing limits from commercial vessels! https://www.change.org/p/dr-kathryn-sullivan-cr...
