Building on Success. Pembans have built massive rain water storage systems, wired solar micro-grid, and worked alongside nature to grow over 1,000,000 trees spanning 30 different species! Now we want to help expand these innovative approaches and technologies and share them far and wide. Join with us, as we take rural innovation to the next level.

Rural Innovation. Last year
CFI supporters helped to build Rural Innovation Campus. A hub where rural fisherman and farmers, women and men can improve their skills, share ideas and build economic and environmental
resilience through tried and tested innovations. Now
it's time to bring it to life as a rural incubator for innovation and
training - But a project this ambitious isn't one we can tackle alone.
Matching Donor. Renewable energy developer and founder of Sky Generation Inc, Glen Estill has generously offered to match every dollar we raise during our campaign!
"I want to see [the projects] spread by 100 fold and more! CFI is working towards
just that - focusing on replicating successful projects and sharing them
through the Rural Innovation Campus." - Glen Estill
That means that every dollar we receive goes twice as far! With your help we can make $20,000 become $40,000 and double our impact!

The Opportunity
Proving our approaches hasn't been easy, but together with Pembans,
we've managed to come away with great ideas, innovative approaches and
appropriate technologies that work. To really make the most of these
innovations we need to make them accessible to more people.
Taking them from the trial phase to common place.
The $40,000 will allow us to:
Build Sustainable Green Infrastructure by helping with the cost of materials, and providing training from
islanders who have done it before, communities are able to learn by
doing. Small, self-imposed fees every month allow communities to operate
and maintain off-grid solutions, bringing essential services to even
the most remote rural villages
Build the Rural Innovation Campus's training capacity by constructing immersive training environments on-site and providing skilled Pemban staff to guide participants
through in-depth training for each of our innovative technologies and approaches

Grow food and plant trees By expanding local nurseries and working with new communities, Pembans are laying the foundation for fruit abundance. Bringing in agroforestry and permaculture home gardens helps build on local and fill the gaps providing nourishing, healthy food to thousands of people daily.
Share Innovation by producing 5 training videos from the Rural Innovation Campus to help make this training accessible to other NGO's and rural communities in the rest of Tanzania
and around the world.

Our Vision
We're flipping the traditional development model upside
down by placing rural communities in a role of leadership and expertise.
We believe that people around the world can work together to find
innovative solutions to some of humanity's toughest challenges. And when
we find a solution that works we are committed to giving communities
the tools and training they need to get it off the ground. We
believe that people can work together to make our world a better place;
they just need the chance.
Back Story
When
we first started working on the island of Pemba, off the Tanzanian
coast, things were different. The entire eastern half of the island was
deforested and most of the island's food was imported. With the help of
CFI, Pembans have been able to take the risks necessary to innovate
their approach over the last 5 years

The 5 Year Goal - Building the Green Economy
A project this ambitious needs time to grow and develop. By focusing on building Pemban expertise and investing in people, CFI is helping the islanders build a greener economy on Pemba - providing people with the materials and training necessary to
establish rural enterprises that manufacture and supplying appropriate technologies and improve resource yields while simultaneously strengthening communities resilience in the face of climate change. This is the change we are looking for, and Pembans are leading the way!
Pemban Experts
Pembans are meting new challenges of climate change head-on because they need to. Being on the edge of Climate Change's negative impacts is challenging all aspects of daily life in Pemba and vulnerable communities around the world. By addressing the issues as they unfold, Pembans are positioning themselves as grassroots leaders in climate change adaptation.
