ABOUT SECRET SANTA:
Secret Santa is a feature length film that tells the story of a group of eccentric college kids, struggling to get through the hectic exam period. This Horror/Comedy is a tribute to B-Movie Slashers but also takes the conventions and turns them upside down. A liquor filled party is planned. Adding a Secret Santa exchange for fun. Little do our characters know… A killer is in town and has a special present for all the good (and bad) girls and boys. Dare to open your present? It might be your last!
We want to make Secret Santa for horror fans because WE are horror fans! This film is jam packed with terror, suspense, mystery, blood, gore and combined with likeable characters and great laughs, creating a unique and fun cinematic experience.
WHAT YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL
GO TO:
SFX: We want to
make horror fans happy and make the kills as realistic and disgusting as
possible. We have an extremely talented SFX artist that we’ve used on prior
projects, who can bring the carnage of our Secret Santa Killer to life.
EQUIPMENT RENTALS/D.O.P: To
make the production value great, we need great equipment and an experienced
Director of Photography to bring the tension and grittiness that the film’s
look needs.
PRODUCTION INSURANCE: We
need to be responsible and make this film right and we cannot do that without
insurance.
PRE-PRODUCTION COSTS: We
need funds for booking and holding auditions, location scouting,
transportation, permits, and other costs before the film even begins shooting.
PRODUCTION COSTS: Props,
wardrobe, craft services, cast, and crew are among some of the many costs
during production.
POST-PRODUCTION COSTS: Editing,
color correcting, sound mixing, blu-ray, dvd, and D-Cinema mastering are some
of the major post-production costs after the film has completed production.
FESTIVAL FEES: We
want as many people as possible to see Secret Santa! The best outlet is film
festivals. Entrance fees and press kits can be costly and we’ll need a portion
of the budget to cover those crucial expenses.
ABOUT MIKE MCMURRAN AND REEL
PHOBIA PRODUCTIONS:
I’m Mike McMurran. An indie filmmaker from Cambridge,
Ontario, Canada. I love horror films. At the tender age of six, I watched my
first horror movie and ever since then have been striving, fighting, and
clawing my way towards making a feature film. Secret Santa is going to be that
film. I’ve made dozens of short films including 2011’s: DEMON BITCH which was a
part of the official selection at the Toronto Independent Film Festival, Sharp
Cuts Indie Film Fest, Shock Stock Horror Convention, and Fangoria’s night of
horror shorts on July 26th of this year. This is not our first time using Indiegogo to fund our
projects. We successfully raised all of our funding for our short: Beneath
which premiered to a full house theatre in 2013.
I don’t just want to make this movie… I need to make this
