My name is Emma, and I love my hair.
No, really. People who watch my
YouTube channel (
www.youtube.com/emmablackery) know just how often I like to change it. I bleach it, dye it, cut it, put extensions in... my hair is a massive part of who I am, and now, it's about to become an even bigger part of my life. I'm hoping to shave ALL of it off for charity LIVE on stage at Summer In The City on August 10th 2014.
My aim is to raise £10,000. If we reach £5000 by the deadline, I will shave my hair off. Completely. Live in front of 7,000 people at Summer In The City.
All money raised from this campaign is split equally between five charities:
-
Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity - this is a children's hospital in London which sees over 240,000 children be treated for various illnesses and diseases each year. GOSH not only treat illness, but help to care and support each child with incredible care. Money raised towards this charity goes to new equipment, staff and medical research for children who are sick and need treatment.
-
Macmillan Cancer Support - we all know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. Macmillan help to support those who are suffering from cancer through Macmillan nurses and external support groups, as well as supporting the families of those who are suffering to make them feel as though they are not alone.
-
Save The Children - this is a charity that is very close to my heart. Working in 120 countries worldwide, including Africa, the Middle East and the UK - Save The Children help to support those who are poverty-stricken, in areas of war and strife and those who are homeless and need extra care.
-
Teenage Cancer Trust - the TCT help to support teenagers who are suffering from cancer, such as Hodgkin's Lymphoma and leukaemia. There are currently 27 centres across the UK, and the money raised will help go towards building another 7.
-
St Luke's Hospice - this is a local charity that helps to fund the hospice in my town. It currently costs over 3 million pounds a year for the hospice to stay open. St Luke's Hospice gives palliative and end-of-life care and support to those who are suffering from terminal illness. I have personally known people who have spent their last days in this hospice, and I have seen how dedicated the staff are. Many fundraisers such as bake sales and fetes are held each year to keep the hospice open and I would love to give something back to them.
To thank you all for donating and helping to raise this amount of money for these amazing charities, there are perks on the right hand side of the page. ANY amount you give for this is appreciated - I personally think we can do an awesome job of this and smash that target out the park. And I shall be bald. If giving money to charity wasn't already enough incentive, I'm going BALD!
