If you're apart of this century, you've probably shared your world on Instagram, post updates to Facebook, used your phone for navigation, and also a music player. We SnapChat, defend our clans against raids and even monitor our health with our phones. We've also had moments where we held on to that last percent of battery life, we all know... #thestruggleisreal
Companies like Apple make beautiful phones and tablets that connect us, entertain us and help us work efficiently. These devices give us access to the worlds knowledge. That's powerful. It also leads to a powerful idea. If we can get electricity to the world, electronics will follow. With a computer and access to the internet, people have started up amazing companies to make their dent in the World. We are here to give you the power to do the same.
We have the tools to create freedom, so the question is, will we?
That's why we created the SolarPad, to unleash you from the wall outlet and keep you connected in your pursuit of life: an adventure defined by you and your passions.
The SolarPad
The mission goes beyond making solar chargers. We're on a mission to inspire people to be the change this world needs. Using a SolarPad is like casting your vote for a sustainable Earth.
Why start with the SolarPad? Glad you asked :)
It's our stepping stone to the bigger picture, clean personal energy. To get there, we need to start by addressing modern key issues. We want something portable. SolarPad is about the size of an iPad Air. It's light weight, comfortable to hold and carry. Most bags, sleeves and accessories that have tablet slots will fit the SolarPad perfectly.
We also want something that charges as fast as the wall. The SolarPad's output is 1% per minute on the iPhone 5c, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. That means you can get a full charge during lunch! SolarPad is built with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery to store power when sunlight is unavailable.
The SolarPad's smart charger provides overcharge and overheating protection. 2 USB outlets, a 2 amp port that quickly charges larger devices and a 1 amp port for standard charging.
SolarPad also has a mini USB IN port. It gives you the option to quickly charge the SolarPad through a laptop or the wall. Also, when two SolarPad's are connected, they are able to daisy chain to charge each other! It's like a mini grid system. Now that's just smart.
During the research and development of the SolarPad, we found other solar options that were either bulky to carry around or too small and took too long to charge. Some even took over 50 hours (3 days of direct sunlight) to fully charge. Do you have 3 days of direct sunlight to charge your phone? Ain't nobody got time for that!
So here's what we found out: People want something that charges quickly, without having to stay in the direct sun that is easy to use. They said, "Is that too much to ask!?" We don't think so, and we think it's just the start!

Where we are now:
We've been testing the current prototype for about 8 months now. We've gained valuable feedback to make the good, better and address the issues.
Now, it's time to take the SolarPad to it's final stage. We need a designer to build a case that embodies our vision. We envisioned something strong enough to handle drops, eco friendly to produce and looks modern. Bamboo was a natural choice for it's strength. The way it's harvested and processed showcases the naturally beautiful grain. Everything from the SolarPad, to it's packaging and recycling will be designed with regards to our eco system.
We're proud to be a family business and want to support families as much as possible. Funds raised here will go towards supporting local designers and engineers that can take us to the next level. We will be sourcing the material and designing the systems needed to get the Solar Pad from Indiegogo to you as quickly as possible.

Funds will go towards everything you imagine a start up may need. We're literally a family company; 2 brothers, 1 sister, and 4 amazing kids and 1 puppy. Everything up to this point has been created out of passion and very little resources. By gaining experts in design, engineering, manufacturing, and distribution, we will be producing products every backer will be proud to use and show off.

The Impact
Making an impact is what wakes us up in the morning. We design with a vision of a world where everyone wakes up inspired to do what they love. When we're able to live and do the things that inspire the best out of us, our best human moments will happen.
Impact, is a mysterious thing. I read a quote saying, "What if the cure for cancer is trapped inside the mind of someone who can't afford an education." A teacher can only measure one layer of their impact. They teach with good will to the ones that listen and hope it inspires future action. The same is true for us. We don't know the large scale impact we'll have. It's up to you all.
Our hope is that you use the SolarPad in ways we didn't think of. Power gadgets we don't yet know about. Share photos and videos of dance offs with friends in epic places because you can power speakers. What ever you use the SolarPad to power, it'll inspire others around you and if you share it with us, you might get something in return for giving us a new perspective.
A portion will be set aside to save up for a studio space. We imagine a space that allows visitors to be engaged in our process, we think the more people who see the creative process, the more people will be inspired to create gadgets of their own or simply be a part of our movement. We plan on having a section dedicated to other Indiegogo campaigns, successful ones as well as live campaigns. Think of it as a modern "As Seen On TV" section. This will be our way of paying it forward to a community that will help us realize our goals and dreams.
On a personal level, if we continue to inspire our kids to be brave enough to lead their cause, pursue their dreams and pass that on, then we've hit our most impactful goal as a family.
Risks & Challenges
Bring new products to market always has its challenges. We may face delays along the way in manufacturing and distribution. We will do our best to plan accordingly and to lessen any risks we can. We have a design and production team on standby. As soon as we hit our funding goal, expect frequent updates.
We've kept the SolarPad as simple as we could. A challenge we foresee, is if we have an overwhelming number of orders, we will have to find distribution partners that can handle the orders in a reasonable time. We don't mind having those kinds of challenges.
