At CSEO we try to bring Space closer to people. Most people are not aware of how much Space Research has helped science, technology and our society to grow. Every electronic device you use today, your laptop, your tablet, your phone, is based on technology developed for Space exploration. Probably also the mattress you sleep on! 

We bring together talented researchers to form projects that can make a difference. Many people are involved in these projects, they all love engineering and science and are excited to combine their skills and knowledge to promote progress and innovation. Research Labs, engineering and science students, young talented professionals, even children, all come together to create, change, exchange and learn. For us to continue our work and to fund our technological projects, we need your support.

This is why we formed Project SPACEselfie. This is a simple application that combines every-day technology with low-budget space technology, to actually allow you to take a selfie in Space. You take a Selfie practically everywhere – at school, in bars at night, even in front of your mirrors, – so why not take a selfie in Space? 

We use stratospheric balloons to lift a payload which consists of a foam casing with a tablet mounted on the outside. In the casing are cameras that capture the journey upwards, while one of them is dedicated to capturing the images displayed on the tablet. These images will be yours. They will be the pictures you send us, pictures of yourselves, your loved ones or even short video-messages where you express your ideas and feelings to others. Imagine taking a Selfie in Space, or sending a video-message to a loved one, with in the background, a majestic view of the Earth surrounded by the vast blackness of the Universe. How cool is that?

Our stratospheric balloons will travel all the way up to 35 km or around 115 000 ft. They will lift the payload to the lowest limits of Space, and together will lift your material towards the most amazing photo-shoot ever attempted. The balloons will burst once they reach the central layers of the Stratosphere, and the payload will start its slow journey back to Earth. The foam casing will absorb the impact energy once the payload hits the ground. We will retrieve the cameras, along with the breathtaking photos and videos we took for you in Space. 

All proceeds from this international crowd-funding campaign, will go towards supporting our activities, promoting Space research, technological innovation, enhancing growth and creating opportunities for young professionals. 

So go ahead and send us your photos and short videos and we will send them to Space and back for you.
