Logline:

As a candid interview carries on between the country’s leading virologist and a no-nonsense journalist, a couple separated between continents play catch up while a pandemic rages across the globe.

Synopsis:

Lead virologist Edward Bellows plays tête-a-tête with hard-hitting journalist Grace Baxter as the world collapses under the weight of a global pandemic. She holds nothing back as she fires question after question, seeking answers from the beleaguered professor.  Meanwhile, a couple Matt and Cathy, stuck in lockdown and separated between continents, spend some belated quality time via webcam toasting to foreign brandy and reminiscing on the past.

Hi, my name is Russ Emanuel, and I am an award-winning feature film director. I have had the honor and privilege of directing such accomplished actors as John Heard, Robert Picardo, Vincent Pastore, Glynnis O’Connor, Hallie Kate Eisenberg, Jeremy London, Ryan Hurst, William Devane, Marina Sirtis, Sean Kenney, Armin Shimerman, Gary Graham, and most recently Olivia d'Abo.

I am starting this campaign because we need finishing funds for our latest sci-fi horror film “Staycation” in our Pandemic franchise (which started with the award-winning “Routine”). This film stars Olivia d’Abo (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Wonder Years, Conan the Destroyer), Sean Kenney (Star Trek: The Original Series), Tracee Cocco (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: First Contact), Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist), Kelli Maroney (Fast Times At Ridgemont High), Laurene Landon (Maniac Cop), G. Larry Butler (Frankenstein vs. the Creature From Blood Cove), along with newcomers Bailey Sorrel and Gilles Stricher. Filming took place during November 2020 and we were able to get all of our shots, but because production took place right in the midst of the pandemic, the costs due to COVID were a lot more than we originally anticipated. Most of the extra costs went to HVAC air filtration units, PPE kits, hiring Covid personnel, and rapid testing services. Also, post-production will include extensive visual effects, motion graphics and compositing.   Additionally, there will be a music score and elaborate sound design work.

As a quick background to the franchise, “Routine” started the whole ball rolling. This film began as a test for a recent camera I purchased. The project ended up bigger than its original goal and got accepted into several prestigious film festivals that my previous films weren’t able to get into - FilmQuest (one of the top genre fests in the US), Coney Island Film Festival, Big Apple Film Festival, and the Glendale International Film Festival.

“Staycation” expands upon the idea set about by “Routine”, opening up the narrative into a bigger world with higher stakes. It’s also the first 25% of an eventual feature film which is already written. “Routine” and “Staycation” builds a world that easily presents itself with great franchise possibilities within the popular science fiction/horror genre.

We need around $20,000 in funding to cover the COVID as well as the aforementioned post-production costs (editing, music, sound design, and visual effects). Even if we don’t reach our goal, any amount will definitely help complete the film. And if we exceed our goals, we will create stretch goals that will go towards bigger and better visual effects and the ability to shoot and feature more cameos for the final film.

CAMEOS EXAMPLE

We have perks such as credits in the film and on the IMDb, customized T-shirts with unique in-universe brands created specifically for the film, a poster signed by the cast and director, invitations to our world premiere, a limited edition DVD of the film when completed and dramatic cameos in the film.
