One day while I was sitting at a computer in the local library, endlessly sending out resume after resume; I heard an interview on one of our local radio stations. It was an interview with the director of a network of soup kitchens, shelters, and a battered woman's home. Although, it wasn't really an interview, it was an actual plea, begging, a cry out for help. Supplies were drastically low, and demand was on a constant rise. I had already been volunteering my time at an associated kitchen, and not working, I couldn't afford to make any monetary donations. Yet, I knew there was something more I could do. There was an idea floating around in my mind, but it had yet to take shape.
One day while I was out for a walk, the idea in my head finally began to take shape. If there weren't jobs out there in the open market, what if I created my own? I could combine my 2 biggest passions (food and fundraising) and turn them into a job. For a minimal amount of money, I would be able to provide people with quality, unique products, while at the same time creating a job for someone and giving them an opportunity to get back into the workforce.
At first I asked family and friends. They all agreed it was a great idea, unfortunately due to their own personal financial situations were unable to make an investment. Then a friend of mine turned me on to Indiegogo. So here I am. Relying on the kindness of strangers to help me, to be able to help others, An attempt to make one or more individuals life better while at the same time providing resources to homes and shelters that are in such a desperate need.
Thank you for your time.
Best Regards
