Pollo's Story

"Pollo" is the name of a stray kitten my fiancé Natalie and I found outside of a Pollo Tropical, one of Florida's popular fast-food joints.

She was hiding in a bush next to a bit of chicken someone left for her, looking tired and sluggish.

My fiancé picked her up and noticed her belly was swollen, so we called a local shelter to see if they could take her in. They couldn't.

We decided to drive Pollo to a local vet and get her health checked out. Test results confirmed that she had two parasites and possibly fleas, so we paid for her medicine, flea treatment, and vaccinations out of pocket.

Pollo going for her first vet visit.

Pollo is extremely friendly and amenable even to things that are typically unpleasant to cats, like car rides and baths. All you have to do is pet her and she'll start purring.

Inquisitive and spunky. She's got quite the personality...

What We're Asking For

My fiancé and I created this IndieGoGo campaign to ask for donations towards Pollo's medical bills.

We've already spent around $350: that's accounting for vet visits,  vaccinations, parasite and flea treatment, food and supplies.

So, we ask you to help us get this kitten ready for her forever-home, wherever that will be. We're only asking for $400 to help pay for this kitten's rescue and vet bills! Your donations contribute directly to Pollo having a fresh bill of health and a good quality of life.

Do you know a family in the Kissimmee, FL area who might be looking for a friendly kitten? Contact us!

Pollo expresses her gratitude...

More About Pollo

  • Other than the fact that she has an adorable fuzzy apple head, Pollo loves to be pet and prefers to be in human company rather than be left alone.
  • She is a purr machine.
  • Pollo is nervous when she's on the porch (closed) alone. She doesn't seem to enjoy being outdoors. We think she may have spent her first few months indoors before being abandoned.
  • Pollo is extremely patient for a cat. She can handle car rides and baths and medicine just fine if you assure her with a pet.
  • Pollo looks like she's 6-7 months old due to her size, but the vet tells us she must be around 9-10 due to her adult teeth.
  • She's well on her way to good health!
