International Peace Initiatives promote cultures of peace by supporting sustainable initiatives that improve livelihoods and enhance the quality of life.IPI envisions a world where violence, poverty, and disease no longer exist and every individual life with dignity and integrity.
Specifically, IPI builds a new generation of leaders through peace and ethical leadership programs. It provides orphans, women living with HIV/AIDS, survivors of violence, and communities with the tools and resources to move from violence, poverty, and crisis to stability and self-reliance, thereby building resilient communities.

Agnes Oduma

Agnes Oduma has been working at Kithoka Amani Children's Home (KACH) since the beginning of 2022. She has been doing an excellent job taking care of the children and teaching them how to use the kitchen garden to grow vegetables and herbs like kale, spinach, onions, and lemongrass. Currently, some of the vegetables are being cooked at KACH.
Nicholas Koome

Nicholas Koome, who specializes in permaculture, joined IPI in 2018 and resides near Tiriji Eco Center where he carries out his daily work activities. He oversees farm work across all of IPI's farms and has received training in Permaculture Design Courses through the Practical Permaculture Institute program. With a dedicated work ethic, he has been a valuable member of the IPI team and we eagerly anticipate his participation in the EcoVillage Design Education. Additionally, he has a wife and three children.
David Oswam

David Oswam joined IPI in 2018. He has a talent for animal care and since his arrival, there has been an increase in livestock production at Tiriji Eco Center, including pigs, goats, chickens, and geese. This increase in animal production has led to sustainability at Kithoka Amani Children's Home (KACH) and reduced the amount spent on meat purchases. David is excited to be a part of EDE and hopes to enhance his skills and ability to work with the community on sustainability. He is eager to learn more about integrating animal products into the current market.
Rusinga Island Organic Farmers Association ( RIOFA ) - Kenya
RIOFA, or Rusinga Island Organic Farmers Association, is a community organization that focuses on natural activities to protect and conserve the environment.
RIOFA was formed by well-trained farmers with the vision to regenerate Rusinga island and beyond holistically. The focus has been on sustainable farming, restoration of our local forests, food & nutrition security, preservation of our lake and its ecosystem, promotion of nonviolent communication (NVC), and spiritual growth (faith.)

My name is Maurice Ogolla and I am a founder of the Rusinga Island Organic Farmers Association (RIOFA). I have completed two PDC courses and am passionate about working with nature, not against it. Additionally, I am a student of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and a Peace Ambassador. I am interested in learning more about Permaculture and how it relates to promoting peace with the earth. I am Fred, a member of RIOFA (Rusinga Island Organic Farmers Association). My interest lies in permaculture, which integrates food production, housing, technology, and community development based on ecological principles. I appreciate permaculture's focus on caring for the earth and creating a mutually beneficial relationship with the environment.
What We Need
The implementation of this EDE has a cost of appr. 80000€

We still need to fundraise 34,000 € to support community members from Kenya as well as from the African continent who cannot pay the cost of attending the EDE.
The largest percentage of costs are flights, food and accommodation for the participants for the month of training in the two locations. Smaller amounts go into materials, local transport, and allowances for the coordination team, group leaders and facilitators.
How can you contribute?
With 5€, you can cover one breakfast for one participant
With 10€, we can pay for one lunch for one participant
50€ pays for one-day accommodation with breakfast
100€ affords us two days of accommodation OR one day of accommodation for two participants
250€ covers Five days of accommodation with breakfast for one participant
500€ covers 10 days of accommodation with breakfast for one participant
Between 500€ and 2000€ enables us to contribute to the full cost of one participant

For donations from 5€- 50 €, Your donation will be registered in a list on a special note. You become one of the honourable mentions on NILE Journies and EDE Social media also at the opening of the Training.
Support 100 € or more, Your donation will be registered in a list on a special note. You become one of the honourable mentions on NILE Journies and EDE Social media also at the opening of the Training additionally we will link you up with the participant you supported.
If you increase your contributions to 250€, we will give you the same benefits as 100 € contributors additionally an opportunity to be part of one of the workshops virtually and we will send you an educational board game of the NILE ecosystem.
