Overview
What if YOU could experience the legendary and scandalous nightlife of 1920's Weimar Berlin? Imagine dancing the night away with The Beautiful and The Damned in an original and decadent Dance Hall (or Ballhaus) that evokes the secretive smoky nightclubs Anita Berber frequented. Would you leave YOUR inhibitions at the door? Then come to the ONLY Cabaret..

Dear Voyeur,

Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome... to Berlin's most provocative Weimar Cabaret experience: Kabarett der Namenlosen. Originally created by Jewish Conférencier, Eric 'Elow' Lowinsky' in 1926, Kabarett der Namenlosen was infamous for presenting only the worst possible talent, in order to satisfy the perverted pleasures of a cruel audience.

Visiting Berlin in 2012, I was instantly intrigued by the title alone, but wanted to reinvent Elow's original concept and offer something dreamier, darker and more poetic. Kabarett der Namenlosen 2016 is presented in English and German and comprises, part Theatre, part Cabaret, part Salon and sometimes Pantomime. The show incorporates original music, including period composers: Mischa Spoliansky, Bertolt Brecht and Friedrich Hollaender, interwoven with bizarre Performance Art, Tableaux Vivants and short 'Vignettes'.

WHY we need YOUR Contributions:

Kabarett has been lovingly nurtured with passion, energy and enthusiasm.  Audiences at the show are thrilled, inspired and even slightly unnerved;  theatre is supposed to do that. The show has been produced twice in recent months, to prove it's potential and the response has been overwhelming. To move forward we now need YOUR support to expand the production in 2017, initially in Berlin and then further afield.

What are we using the funds for?

We have tried and tested the show on a self funded basis. Now we need more people to discover and believe in the potential of this beautiful creation.. Therefore we need to raise additional funds to cover the Marketing and Production Costs that would help the show to develop and evolve. We aim to raise £15,000 in total:

Marketing: £8.000

This is essential for any emerging show. We need to fund a strong and visible campaign to reach a wider audience and spread the word. The show IS a success but we need the WORLD to know.

In the wise words of P.T. Barnum : "Without promotion, something terrible happens... nothing!"

Production Costs: £7.000

Kabarett is an expensive and extravagant show to stage. The show is presented in an authentic pre-war venue (with original features) thus providing the perfect "mise-en-scène" for this spectacle. In addition we need: new costumes, set and a variety of curated props are required to recreate the Zeitgeist of the Golden Twenties. We also need to secure new equipment, hire additional staff and pay for extra rehearsals.

Final thoughts..

Innovative theatre needs to be encouraged as it requires endless motivation, self belief and determination. This show is not only historically important in keeping the spirit of Weimar Berlin alive but it offers all of us the chance to dream... AND WE ALL NEED TO DREAM ONCE IN A WHILE.
