Inamorata is a tale about love, loss, and why keeping our freedom to be ourselves is so important.

Lili and Emma are a same-sex couple living in the mid-1960s. Lili, a secretary, has dated men previously, so even those who know she is with Emma think it would be easier for her to conform to the standards set by society. Emma, a schoolteacher, has much more to lose than Lili, if anyone were to find out they were together. Their friends make up a colorful cast of women all loving other women and hiding who they are, for various reasons.

All it takes is one mistake to spiral Lili and Emma's relationship out of control and set in motion a path of destruction of Shakespearean tragedy proportions.

We Need YOUR Help!

Making a period piece is incredibly costly. We will use the money donated to help pay for:

  • Art - Making our film world look authentically like the 1960s - costumes - set pieces - props
  • Actors - bringing and housing our cast from NYC to Ohio
  • Food - to feed our cast and crew during our 7-8 days of shooting
  • Camera, Grip and Electric, and other production equipment costs

The People Behind the Project

The people behind Inamorata recently completed Dominick's Junior Thesis film, trip. Check out the latest trailer for trip, a gritty drama about a teen mom who must choose between a life of drugs and sex or working towards a better life for her young son.

Dominick Evans - Director

Dominick Evans started out his career as an actor and singer. He studied acting at the Toledo Franciscan Life Center, Bowling Green State University, Wright State University and the University of Michigan (Flint campus).  In 2010, Dominick started film school in the award-winning Wright State film program. He navigated through the competitive program, and was selected as 1 of 3 to make their junior thesis projects into a short film. He graduated in May 2014 with a BFA in Motion Pictures Production and is two classes from a second degree, a BA in Political Science, where his emphasis has been in civil rights.

Dominick has made a series of short shorts including a film about homophobia, Forbidden Fate, a dark comedy exploring a day in the life of a person with a physical disability, A Day in the Life, a family’s struggle to accept their transgender son in Coming Home and The Boxer, an audio documentary about his grandfather, Willis Ryan’s, amateur boxing career. Dominick’s desire is to make existential dramas and fantasy films that explore the lives and desires of marginalized populations. He lives in Centerville, OH with his longtime partner, Ashtyn, their teenage son, and their shih-tzu, Molly Mae, though they're planning a move to NYC in the near future.

Ashtyn Law - Writer, Executive Producer, AD

Ashtyn Law is a visionary writer whose excellent prose has captured the imagination of everyone who reads her scripts. Originally interested in novel writing, Ashtyn switched to screenplays when Dominick entered film school and needed her voice to tell his stories. Prior to school, Ashtyn had a successful career as a technical writer, supporting a family of four during a rough recession.

Ashtyn is known for gritty storytelling and realistic dialogue that gets your heart pounding as her scripts come to life. She has several feature scripts in the works. Ashtyn is close to finishing a degree in English where her focus is Screenwriting from Southern New Hampshire University. She plans to go on to get her Masters in Screenwriting in the next year. She lives in Centerville, OH with Dominick, their son, and her excellent mother, Sylvia, but cannot wait to move to New York later this year.

Kyle Wilkinson - Cinematographer

Kyle Wilkinson is a filmmaker and photographer from Monroe, OH.  He received a BFA in film production from Wright State University and currently resides in Cincinnati, OH.  Kyle has been a cinematographer on many documentaries including the Silver Docs audience award winner, Sparkle, and Women Who Yell, which won second place for best short documentary at Athens International Film Festival.  Kyle has also been a cinematographer on multiple short films including Punk Girl and trip.

There are many other amazing crew members who make up this project and are a very important part of the Inamorata team.
