5-year-old Kevin Vicente was attacked by a pit bull in Phoenix, Arizona in February 2014.

According to the "Arizona Republic" newspaper, animal rights activists rallied to the defense of the pit bull, creating a Facebook page with nearly 37,000

likes. A New York non-profit even hired an attorney for the dog. Then, controversial Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio adopted the dog, and a state-run facility now gives it 24-7 care. The animal even has its own web camera, which was donated at a cost of $1,000.

Meanwhile, Kevin's immigrant single mother, Flor Vicente, had to leave her job to take care of him. She doesn't know how she will pay his medical bills, and she cannot afford the reconstructive plastic surgery that he needs. She cannot afford to buy him a real Christmas tree. Kevin complains of constant pain, and he cannot open his right eye.

Please help donate to Kevin. Let's show that his life matters, and that our children always come first.

UPDATE: Indiegogo.com is now waiving its fees on charity campaigns. So every cent that gets donated goes directly to Kevin's mother. My husband and I started this campaign to show people that the life of every child matters. THANK YOU for proving that it does. --Maria and Jack
