Our Story
Suubi House is a community project in the beautiful village of Kikyusa, Uganda. Kikyusa is a village in the central region of Uganda about an hours drive from the capital city, Kampala.
///Suubi means HOPE!\\\
After spending several months in Uganda during 2011, Sarah Mae Bowman found it much more than a coincidence that her silly family nickname Suubi, that meant nothing in English, meant HOPE in the local language of Uganda.
God gave her the vision for the Suubi (HOPE) House.
We are currently working on registering for non-profit status and funding for this project. We need your support!
WHAT WE PLAN TO DO:
Suubi House will be home in Kikyusa where villagers can come to eat meals together, take classes, get medical attention, and much more as community!
The vision of Suubi House is to bring HOPE in and through Christ. We strive to be a community caring for one another so that everyone's needs are met. We aim not to enable the community to live in their "poverty," but to equip them with the knowledge and power to FLOURISH!
Programs that will take place:::
• Community Meals (feeding program)
• Weekly Classes (English, computer, sewing, etc..)
• Bible Studies
• Quarterly Medical Clinics
• Bi-monthly Community Projects (well cleaning, house building, etc..)
• Tutoring Center
• Football team
Our first step is building the house! With lots of research we have fingured that buying a plot of land and building a house will cost roughly $8781. Until we reach this goal we will continue to travel into the village to run community programs. Please consider giving financially so that we can make the vision a reality!
With much thanks and gratitude.
