Tales from the Blood Fairies is a dark fantasy / horror proof of concept anthology television series that explores the disturbing side of fairy tales.

• We are working on creating a 50-minute film that will serve as a pilot episode of sorts.
• Once we are finished, we will pitch it to streaming services like Netflix and cable networks.
• We are almost there! We just need a final boost to help us finish up post-production.

Our team of experienced filmmakers have been working hard on this passion project for over 5 years, working other jobs also to cover the production costs out of our own pockets. We started by creating a 30-minute short film that was very well-received at the premiere and at festivals. We are almost finished creating a longer proof of concept film so that we can pitch Tales from the Blood Fairies as a tv series to networks. We are looking for one final boost as we prepare to cross the finish line.

Tales from the Blood Fairies is an independently-produced proof of concept anthology television series that explores the dark and twisted underpinnings of original fairytales, reimagined in modern-day settings. A magnificent juxtaposition compared to current day mis-tellings. The grim truth is that fairytales aren’t what you’ve been led to believe...

The Tales from the Blood Fairies proof of concept film is comprised of four chapters that each tell a short story. Each chapter challenges what you thought you knew about children's tales by exploring questions like "What if sirens (aka mermaids) truly did walk the surface?" and "What does it mean when Peter Pan takes your children away forever?" An overarching dark fantasy storyline draws you in and serves as the glue to tie the different short-story chapters together.

The Little Old Woman Who Died In the Shoe explores the dark journey of a young foreign woman's psychotic breaking point. Human Trafficked 49 years ago and forced to care for children that aren't hers, someone’s child might not be making it home.

They say the right kiss will take your breath away, but what if that kiss could steal your soul? The beautiful woman with the silky voice lures an unsuspecting young man over for dinner in a lesson in evolution he'll never forget. Once hunters at sea, but now on land, the creatures known as mermaids feast on humanity during the Sirens Dark Tide.

Sometimes those who are responsible for protecting the innocent and upholding the law are the biggest criminals. When the cops operate with immunity from their fortified empires and strongholds, it takes a creature much darker and more ruthless to ”blow their houses down.” if only the first two Pigs lived long enough to warn the third of A Wolf At Iron Gate. 

When the Being known as Peter Pan God of Neverland inhabits a young man being bullied, the guy and girls responsible will learn the true meaning of ”Lost Boys.”

So where are we in the process of creating Tales from the Blood Fairies? The short answer: we're almost finished!

There are 3 main stages in the process of filmmaking: pre-production, principal photography, and post-production.

1. Pre-production is the planning phase. This includes scriptwriting, creating costumes and props, location scouting, assembling a crew, and casting. Check! We’ve finished that.
    
2. Principal photography is the actual filming. Done!
    
3. Post-production includes editing, color grading, visual effects, score, and sound design. We are currently halfway through the post-production process, and the support we get from this campaign will help us finish the film. Post-production is easily the most expensive part of filmmaking, requiring hours of work by a variety of creative professionals. Quality post-production makes all the difference, and thanks to your support and our amazing production team, we'll be able to make this an absolutely stunning fantasy film.

We started the process by creating a short, 30-minute, proof of concept back in 2014-2015. This was very well received at the premiere and at film festivals. It was even selected to be shown at 11 Cedar Fair amusement parks around the country as a part of Halloween Haunt.

After the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received, we began working to expand the film to a 50-minute proof of concept that would serve as the basis of a tv series. We will host a premiere event in May 2020, and our ultimate goal is to sell the concept to a cable network or streaming service like Netflix.

We are passionate about this project and will continue to fund it out of our own pockets if we have to, but your support will help make it possible for us to move forward faster than we could on our own.

Our budget is $35,000 broken down as follows: 

Post-production: $15,750 (45%)

This is the budget for the custom Blood Fairies score, sound design, mixing, VFX and animation, ADR, and color grading for our 64 mins proof of concept mini-series. 

Backer rewards: $10,500 (30%)

Budget for reward production, warehousing, shipping, etc. 

Pre-production: $3,500 (10%)

Money we would like to recoup from outstanding bills on the project thus far (a fraction of the $25,000+ we have spent from our own pockets)

Operational costs: $1,750 (5%)

Budget for operational costs such as marketing expenses, web hosting, paying bills, etc.

Who is Omari Matlock? The name may sound unfamiliar but not for long. His creative storytelling, work ethic and ability to lead his team makes him a force to be reckoned with. With more than 15 years of production experience in the film industry, he is ready to take his passion projects to the next level.

From day one, Omari has had his sights on the Horror, Fantasy and Science Fiction genres.  Slightly ahead of the curve, he has been perfecting his craft In these untraditional genres from black filmmakers. Despite the past limitations that black and brown filmmakers have encountered in these genres, Omari believes the tide is beginning to change. With recent hits for filmmakers such as Jordan Peele, Omari believes the world is finally ready for stories with a unique and fresh perspective, and he plans to take full advantage of this growing climate.
