My name is Shannon. My sister, Tammy, and brother in law, Mark, are very important to my family. My sister was in a bad car accident in April of 2011 as a result she cannot work. In January of 2012 my brother in law was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Then he was let go of his job. With the contributions of this campaign I want to help pay off their house.
My sister (Tammy) was a home health care provider for the elderly. She was great at her job. Tammy loves to help the elderly. She worked on referrals and always had a job, sometimes two, taking care of them. She is always the first one to donate her time and money to a fundraiser. She would go hungry just to help someone. She's addicted to fundraiser auctions. In April 2011 while waiting to make a left at a light another car from the other direction came speeding at her and hit her head on. She has had neck surgery, where they fused some of her discs together and used cadaver bones to replace the bones that were too bad to save. Her foot was broken and her wrist. As well as many other injuries. Out of all of that what hurts her the most is not being able to do her job of taking care of the elderly. She is in constant pain from her injuries. Tammy is also a diabetic.
My brother in law (Mark) is quiet, unassuming and never asks for anything. He's a proud man and a hard worker. In January 2012 he was diagnosed with Bladder cancer. They have performed 3 surgeries where they removed a tumor the size of a tennis ball from his bladder. He's had chemo and radiation. While going through all this he was terminated from his job. Mark was a corian fabricator. Marks hobby is making corian drink coasters and corian cutting boards to give family and friends as gifts. The items he makes are amazing. He also makes and donates corian urns for friends and family who have lost loved ones. He recently showed me the one he made for himself. It made me cry. On Mothers day of this year his father passed away and Mark made the urn for his fathers ashes. Mark is the ultimate Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan. He proudly wears the logos where ever he goes. He also proudly flies a Sabres flag in the front of his house along side the American flag.
They pay $250.00 a week for health insurance which is double what he gets from unemployment. They have no money left over for food, utilities, mortgage or gas for their vehicle to get them to the doctor's. They still have their faith and love for each other.
I want to raise this money to help pay their mortgage and medical insurance so they can put all their strength into getting well. The family has been helping out but we are running out. I'm afraid that if they lose their house that they worked so hard to get they will give up.
Please join the effort to make this possible for them. Please help them continue their fight. I understand not everyone can give financially so please help by getting the word out. Put it on facebook, hang the info on every bulletin board you can find, scream it in the streets and use the Indiegogo share tools!!!!! Please help them the way they give so generously of themselves to others.
