Tarot of Fear: A Horror-Themed Tarot Card Deck

Tarot of Fear is a horror-themed, collaborative tarot card deck project created by independent artists to benefit the Trevor Project, a charity dedicated to providing crisis prevention services to young LGBTQ+ people under 25.

About Tarot of Fear

Horror fans can now enjoy a functional and beautiful tarot deck featuring beautiful renditions of familiar horror, sci-fi, and thriller franchises created by a collaborative team of independent artists.  

Because Tarot of Fear is based on the traditional messages of the Rider-Waite Tarot, both experienced tarot enthusiasts and new collectors alike will find the images in this deck easy to connect with while exploring non-traditional themes through eye-catching imagery.

This fundraiser is for the creation of the deck itself, plus a guide booklet containing art and artist information, as well as a decorative linocut printed velvet deck bag. Stretch goals will unlock as we pass fundraising milestones, which will include additional options, detailed below. 

About the Deck

• Card size is 2.75” x 4.75” printed on superior smooth cardstock with black core.
• Comes with a black velvet, hand-stamped, linocut printed drawstring deck bag featuring the eyeball sigil shown on the card back design.
• Includes a 3.5” x 5”, 168 page, full-color guide booklet that contains information about each card design and the artist who created it, a description of what each card means and how to interpret it in both upright and reversed positions, as well as how-to guides on how to use your deck and read common spreads.
• Uses eco-friendly packaging.
• Made with love by a diverse community of independent artists and horror fans passionate about using their craft to not only create a quality tarot deck, but to also help people in need. 

Our Ethical And Environmental Responsibility Statement

In addition to our charitable goals, we set out to ensure that all aspects of this project, from the tarot deck to our extras and stretch goal rewards, are sustainably and ethically produced through responsible vendors. The cards are made with premium quality recycled material, green printing methods by makeplayingcards.com, and uses as little plastic to produce and ship as possible. Additionally, we sourced from vendors that have assured us that their facilities conform to a host of international standards and operate in a socially accountable manner. 

Note for All Non-US International Buyers

To assist with VAT and the associated paperwork related to UK-based and other international orders, all buyers outside the US should pledge to the “NON-US RESIDENTS ONLY” tier and we will create a custom Etsy listing with the rewards and additional stretch goals you want (as they are unlocked) so you can pay at campaign end.

Australian Buyers: Due to a temporary pause in USPS first-class shipments to Australia as a result of a recent COVID outbreak, your rewards will ship after this restriction has been lifted. By pledging, you are agreeing to your items shipping later when we are permitted to do so.
 

Stretch Goals

Once we’ve surpassed our primary goal of funding the decks, we have even more rewards that will get unlocked with each new milestone we reach! Everyone who pledges to receive tangible rewards (including our sticker tier) will receive each unlocked stretch goal reward as part of their shipment. 

Patches - Unlocks at $8,200

Once we unlock this stretch goal, you’ll receive a hand-stamped linocut fabric patch created by artist Keri Stone (Pedestrianwolf) on black canvas with white ink, featuring a stylized eyeball design reminiscent of the sigil shown on the card back. This stretch goal will be awarded to everyone who backed at a tier that includes a card deck. Due to the handmade nature of these patches, sticker-only tiers will not receive a patch. 

Stickers - Unlocks at $9,000

After reaching this goal, everyone who pledges will receive a set of three vinyl stickers featuring a selection of card artwork by Danie Hadsall, Amethyst Barron, and Jay Miller. Stickers are printed by Sticker Ninja in Portland, OR. 

Art Postcards - Unlocks at $11,000
If we reach this funding goal, everyone who pledges will receive all of the previous unlocked rewards as well as a set of three 6” x 4” art postcards featuring the artwork of Saren Stone, Del Borovic, and Novelteeth, printed by Moo.

About The Trevor Project Charity

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) young people under 25.

Tarot of Fear is created by a collection of LGBTQ+ and allied artists who have volunteered to donate their time and artistic efforts to help a charitable organization doing such important work within the community. While all artists retain the copyright on their image, all proceeds from this project will be donated to the Trevor Project.

Risks and Challenges

The art for this deck is already completed, so any risks and challenges will come from any manufacturing delays as a result of the aftermath of Covid-19 shutdowns. While we’ve been assured such delays are not anticipated, we always expect the unexpected and will remain in constant communication with our buyers should any delays arise.
