TBD: The Movie is
the first feature film to create opportunities for dedicated followers and
casual observers to contribute ideas and art at every level of the process. As TBD: The Movie progresses into the
production phase, and through post-production, we will remain crowd-sourced and
collaborative. TBD: The Movie will be released
online, streaming, for free. Our goal is not to make money. Our goal is to make
a piece of art that will continue to impress audiences for years to come.
Funding
We are currently seeking $75,000 for production funds and additional expenses. TBD: The Movie has
a completed script of 107 pages and a projected shooting schedule of 27 days. All
of the steps that it took to complete the script, schedule, and budget can be
found at http://tbd-movie.tumblr.com – which is continually updated with the
latest news and developments. The estimated completion date for production is
April 1st, 2015.
Distribution
TBD: The Movie
will be released as streaming video for free under a creative commons license.
Special edition physical copies of the movie will be released periodically to
raise money for further artistic endeavors. The primary audience for TBD:
The Movie consists of the artists involved and their followers. The final
movie will be shared online by the internet-savvy artists responsible for its
creation. Awareness of the project will proliferate exponentially.
Outreach
Updates about the movie production and the fundraising
efforts will be posted to http://tbd-movie.tumblr.com, as well as other social
media outlets. Readers are constantly encouraged to leave feedback regarding
ideas under development, potential methods of fundraising, ways to reach an
audience, and many other topics. A producer will often directly contact users
online regarding projects that may interest them.
Budgeting
Review the details of our budget here. The Indiegogo model allows campaigns to keep any funds raised, even if
the target amount is not reached. I want to make sure we are prepared to
deliver a finished feature film, regardless of the final amount raised.
However, FILMING ON TBD: THE MOVIE WILL NOT COMMENCE UNTIL WE HAVE AT
LEAST $25,375. This will ensure that we maintain a certain production
value. I do not want to short change the production, or have delays due
to money flow. If we fail to reach this minimum, a follow-up Indiegogo
campaign will be launched to make up for the difference.

TBD: The Movie
Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the four short stories included in TBD: The Movie. Each story will be introduced by Ronald Reagan, as he dictates his autobiography to a stalk of celery that bombards him with notes.
Publishing Deal
Publishing Deal is a story that follows Ethan, a timid man of habit with an
affliction for science-fiction literature. Ethan finds himself in a financially
crippling situation as he scrambles to finish his novel. Going to Big Donnie,
the ruthless head honcho of a criminal syndicate, for money could be his only
way to get the book finished. Weeks later, Ethan sits with a barely
finished book and a couple of crooks breathing down his neck. Its due date, and
the pile of money is a lot smaller than it should be.
Sleep Study
Sleep Study, the second story in the movie, follows Steve Bennett. Steve is an
average, everyday guy, with nothing special to report, except a bit of a
sleeping problem. An experimental new sleep aid is the only thing that gives
Steve any relief from his problem, but every cure has its side effects. Steve
develops the ability to control his dreams. It’s an exciting proposition, which
turns terrifying, when he realizes his dreams have begun to affect his waking
life. Steve struggles to make sense of what is happening to him as the division
between his dream-self and his conscious-self begins to collapse.
Combust
Combust, the third story in the lineup, follows Dylan Carpenter and his
life in the Colony. Dylan never fit in at home, at the Colony. Everyone was
always too concerned with tending the fields and raising families. He just
wanted to be left alone in his garage with his tools and his dream car - an
accurately recreated VW Beetle. That was before he got out on the road and saw
what the world had left to offer. Sure, there were more women his age outside
of the Colony. But there were also more people who wanted to kill him and eat
him for dinner. Now it seems like the Colony wasn’t such a bad place to grow up
after all. Except for the lack of women, that is.
The Braincrimes of Harris Smith
The Braincrimes of Harris Smith, the final short story, follows
depressed office worker Harris Smith as he is brainwashed into committing a
multimillion dollar heist by master criminal… Harris Smith?
