UPDATE:

As our campaign greatly exceeded its goal due to your generosity, we want to ‘spread the love’ to other animals in need.

Below you will find a break-down of how the funds will be distributed when they arrive.

The Toronto Humane Society has received $1000 for medical expenses and will receive another $1000 ---- the total original goal for the campaign.

The extra funds will be divided between a grass-roots campaign, a smaller grass-roots organization and two Humane Societies:

1)  The “Please help with Lolo’s life-saving surgery” Indiegogo campaign.  Lola is an 8 year-old cat who needs urgent spinal cord surgery in order to have a chance to live out her life.  Without this surgery, Lola will have to be euthanized. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/please-help-with-lola-s-life-saving-surgery

2)  Peoples Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a registered local charity with a no-kill policy dedicated to helping homeless, abused and abandoned animals.  http://www.pawscanada.org/about.html

3)  Mississauga Humane Society is a registered charity dedicated to the rescue of homeless companion animals. They are 100% volunteer-run and receive no support from the SPCA/City/Government. They do not have a facility or a shelter and operate through a network of foster homes and volunteers. http://mississaugahumanesociety.com/about/

4)  Etobicoke Humane Society is an independent, all-volunteer, federally registered charity serving the Greater Toronto Area since 1987. They have recently been in the media (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/etobicoke-humane-society-fights-possible-shelter-closure-1.2824387) regarding the possibility that they may have to close down due to lack of funds. http://etobicokehumanesociety.com/about/about-us/

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CAMPAIGN IS NOT ABLE TO GENERATE TAX RECEIPTS FOR THE ABOVE ORGANIZATIONS.

IF FOR ANY REASON YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE A REFUND FOR YOUR DONATION TO THIS CAMPAIGN – PLEASE NOTIFY US BY THURSDAY, JANUARY 22, 2015, 5PM.

Update:

The campaign is officially over!  Thank you everyone for making this such an amazing success.

At this time the funds have not been fully released from Indiegogo but we were able to make a donation to Toronto Humane Society to cover the medical expenses incurred for Pedro's surgeries and rehabilitation. We are thankful to their staff for the wonderful care that he has received.

As the campaign greatly exceeded our original goal - our plans are to ensure that Toronto Humane Society's expenses are fully covered and then to provide donations to other animal rescues and charities.

We will provide you with a complete list of the charities after the funds have been received and distributed.

Every last dollar of the campaign funds will go to these charities, including the Toronto Humane Society.

Thank you all for being heroes for Pedro and for the animals. Your generosity will save many lives.

****************************************************************************

On December 3rd  during snow flurries on the busy Highway 427, this little kitten was
thrown from a car window. He was just a small bit of fur - he could have been a paper cup.

When our rescuer Mandi, went back and picked him up, he was covered in blood and screaming in pain. He was taken to the Toronto Humane Society emergency care. He has now made it through the first stage but will require surgeries to fix his broken jaw, split lips, and multiple fractures.

He's been through so much -- please help us to get him the care he needs.
Funds will be used to pay for his present medical needs as well as his post-operative and rehabilitation care.
