The Anthony Project
Objective: To service and support families who have recently lost a loved one and will be experiencing their first or second holiday season without that loved one.
Background: Anthony Tate Jr. or "Tank", as he was called by his family and close friends, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2017. He was a loving, caring, gentle giant that lit up the room with his smile. He had an outgoing personality and know how to make you laugh even when you didn't want to. He was always the life of the party. I am honored to carry on his memory by helping others as he always did and loved to do.
About the Program: I will be making goody baskets or "Tanks of Love", as we will call them, for all the families in the program. I will be accepting monetary donations as well as items to complete the baskets. I will include a list of needed items below. Along with goody baskets, I am asking for hand written and typed letters to the families with words of encouragement and any message you would like to share with them. I will be accepting as many letters as possible as this is what the families will value the most.
Participants: I would like everyone to suggest or nominate names of families and individuals to participate in The Anthony Project. When submitting the names of potential participants, please be sure to include their name, city of residence, address if you have it, contact information, and a brief summary of their personal story as well as a description of the lost loved one. I will also need volunteers to help purchase and sort items, build baskets, and deliver the items. I appreciate any help that I receive.
