What is "The First Lady?"

The First Lady is an Inspirational Stageplay of how the lives of two First Ladies intersect and changes them for good.

A comical look into a small church in a small town in N.C., this newer version, which previously had a well-received Premiere in NYC digs deeper into the past of our main characters and the music they sing.

The audience will be taken on a spiritual journey and asked to place themselves in the character's shoes. What we think is black and white is not necessarily so. "The First Lady" is a gripping drama with lush Music and fabulous Hats. Laughter, tension, Infidelity and healing, it represents the ultimate theatre experience for the entire family. Curse free and thought provoking...

What is the Cultural Enrichment Series?

Founded by Capital City Hope's Crystal Bodie Smith, the Cultural Enrichment Series is a unique theatrical collaboration between several companie to bring thought provoking and entertaining Events to the Raleigh-Durham Area.

2014 will see the collaboration between Garner Performing Arts and Obsidian Media group with "The First Lady" in March, Nandi Keyi's "Flambeaux in June and a new untitled project from Director/Writer Lawrence Floyd.

Support from Patrons like you make it possible to include the community and bring to N.C. the quality of talent that it deserves.

What We Need

Bridging the Cultural Gap anywhere in the world is missing. Many times organizations have the desire and the means to help bring people together, but not the resources to do as much as they might like.  Working with sponsors and the larger community helps us make a larger impact in the Theatrical community.

By giving as little as $5.00 or as much as $1,000.00, which is all tax deductible to the highest extent of the law, you will make Theatre affordable for High School, college and Audience members from all walks of life.

For example, we are offering 25 Rush tickets to young people under 25 each night for only $20.00. The cost of that ticket is twice the price. Your contribution keeps premium seating affordable.
