Food Cycle Science was founded in May of 2011 by Murray Arthur, Ted Elliott and Brad Crepeau. After attending a waste conference in Las Vegas, Nevada the entrepreneurs sought a more specific opportunity within the organic waste sector. Food Cycle Science quickly gained traction in the commercial sector grabbing the attention of hospitals, universities, restaurants and grocery stores alike.
With the knowledge that every year the average person produces nearly 475 pounds of food waste, Food Cycle Science then recognized the need for a residential model. The Food Cycler sterilizes, deodorizes and turns potentially harmful food scraps (even a McDonald’s hamburger) into safe, sterilized, organic compost. The byproducts of the process can be reused as soil amendment, compost accelerant, biofuels, animal feed, pet food and potable water.
Unlike other home compost devices, the Food Cycler process only takes 3 hours and emits no odor and little noise, allowing the device to be seamlessly integrated into the home.
