The idea behind this film is that the future is nothing more than a vision of the future.
The Future is a short film that tells the story of an encounter and of the mysterious space that an encounter can create. No matter how familiar a place can look to us, the reality of an encounter will deform it, expand it, isolate it from any context and form.

A man and a woman meet at night in the swimming pool of a hotel. They’re both unable to sleep. It’s a surreal space they move within. An open space for possibilities.
What is an encounter?
It is a contingent, chance element of existence. Something happens to you that nothing among your existing world’s points of reference made likely or necessary. You encounter someone who you do not know and yet who strikes you, attracts you, enters into your life.

In life, we often find ourself trapped in patterns we haven’t determined. We lose ourselves and we start questioning existence. These are the particular moments when we can become aware of the future and of its role in our life.
Most of the time we are unaware of the future, thus we live constantly and inevitably in the present. Some people are said to live in the past, though the past is in reality just another manifestation of the present; and so is the future.

Who we are and why we need your help
We are a team of international film makers and producers based in London and we are planning to shoot The Future – the 4th short fiction film by writer/director Enrico Poli, in lateFebruary/March 2016.
Thanks to private fundings and personal savings we have secured part of the budget, but we need some extra money to go ahead and that is why your support is vital to make this film happen! Thank you!
We made a pie chart to help you understand what we will need to pay for.
We have a professional camera and lighting kit, essential for an high quality image. To handle this equipment we choosed a minimal yet professional crew able to minimize the time and deliver great skills, working on a health and safety regulated set.

As we had two great designers helping out to shape the storyboard and the poster of the short film we thought to offer this material as a gift to our supporters.

Proudly introducing our DOP! Enrico interviewed him about The Future.
The underwater and above surface spaces in which The Future takes places allows us to be incredibly inventive and dynamic with the way we shoot and light it. We've chosen to shoot digital on the ARRI Alexa using the strengths of digital over film and are going to shoot a mixture of underwater cinematography with specialist underwater housing, hand held camera work and also challenging overhead shots with heavy duty grip equipment to give us maximum flexibility in our approach.
