The Golden Thread Project is a celebration of folk song and the graphic arts. Collaborating with the English Folk Dance & Song Society we have created an exhibition which celebrates a seminal moment in folk history. 29 artists have created comic strips and illustrations based on this moment and on March 13th 2018 we are exhibiting this work at Cecil Sharp House in London.
With this campaign we aim to make enough money to publish a book, we would also like to create an online educational resource where people can learn about global folk cultures via beautiful artwork. The Golden Thread Project book is a 180-page full colour collection, adapting folk songs from the 1920s to today into comic strips by a dazzling array of creators from across the comics and printmaking spectrum.
