The Hungry H Cafe is a 40-seat full service restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch six days per week, plus a special, price fixe four-course dinner once per month. The cafe opened its doors on September 3rd, 2009 and is located on busy East Bridge Street in historic Morrisville borough, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The Hungry H is a warm, light-filled bistro with outdoor patio seating for 18 guests—a semi-private enclave complete with plants, pergola and wall fountain.
The Hungry H Cafe serves food made from fresh, high quality ingredients, and of which 95% is prepared in-house: i.e. our own dressings, marinades, roast our own beef and turkey breast, homemade soups, etc. We serve locally roasted Chestnut Hill coffee and espresso, desserts from Cramer’s Bakery in Yardley, breads from Le Bus in Manayunk and bagels from Morrisville’s RJ’s Bagels. Most of our beverages are glass bottled all natural sodas and teas.
In its first 11 months, the cafe evolved into something better than our original concept. The business has been growing since opening day, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from our customers. We have a growing following of regular customers, who are continuing to spread the word and bring in new customers. In the midst of this historic recession, we have found a niche that is appreciated by a broad market. Our customers hail from Morrisville neighborhoods and businesses, the NJ State Capital complex in Trenton, from Yardley and Newtown, and many other surrounding towns. We have received many positive reviews, including those in Bucks Life magazine Bucks Life and the Intercounty Newspapers. Bucks Local News
Despite our strong start up and ongoing successes, we have reached a point where our cash flow is not enough to carry us forward to realize the full potential of The Hungry H Cafe. The cafe was 100% owner financed and in order to go forward into our second year and the busy fourth quarter, we need an infusion of funds to allow us to operate in a state of financial health. Traditional routes of business financing are challenging for any young restaurant, and essentially impossible in the 2010 business climate. Our business is viable; with our historical growth plus a few changes—some already instituted—we will be profitable within a few months. We miss our customers and the cheer they bring to our noisy cafe. Thanks for making the first 11 months so enjoyable. With your help, we hope to be serving again soon….
When we reopen, we will be open every day including Mondays. One month later, we will launch dinners every Friday night. If there is still a demand for our prix fixe, four course dinners, we will schedule a few for Saturday nights.
All funds raised will be used to bring the cafe to financial health and sustain it until it is profitable.
