The Liberation Arts Cooperative
When you think about
the word Artist, what comes to mind?Perhaps you believe
that to be an Artist, you must be a painter or a performer. Maybe you identify
with a craft, but not as an artist.Let us define for you one meaning of the word.
Artist:
1.
A person whose
work exhibits exceptional skill.
Our Mission Statement:
The Intention of our Artist Collective
is to create access to the arts for low- income adults and children through
reasonably priced, sliding scale art classes and open studio space. We will
offer community members space to share their artistic gifts, space to teach,
learn, and grow. Our vision includes inspirational community events and access
to event space for community members. There will be a scholarship fund and work
trade opportunities.
Have you ever dreamed of access to a space where you
can create from your soul? Where what you have to offer is valued and where you
can receive what you need in exchange for your gifts?
Or maybe you just wish you could access a teacher in a
community setting, to cultivate your creative outlets and expression.
We feel deep in our hearts that being an artist is a
valid path. The Arts can open paths of revolutionary change, of manifesting magick, and ways of connecting with our
cultural and ancestral roots.
We desire to create space where more marginalized
people in the Portland area can bring the arts into their lives, to create, and
to be supported.
Our Goal, and our Reach Around:
We will be fundraising for the next few months, in hopes of
making our minimum goal of 10,000 dollars. If we reach our minimum goal before
the month is up we will keep fundraising to reach our expanded goal of 15,000
dollars! All donations will go towards renting a space, furniture, art
supplies, promotion, and a scholarship fund.
If we don't meet our minimum goal by the end of this fundraising period, we will continue to hold local and online fundraisers until we succeed! With the funds that we raise here, we will begin the journey of making our community artist collective dreams a reality.
Our goal is to have the Liberation Arts
Co-op open to the community by:
June 15th 2015!
We have put together a list of offerings, from the Caretakers as well as friends and family who support our vision. Thank you to all who have donated your art, passion and time to this project. It seems this list will continue to grow as fast as this project has!

With Big Dreams, come Big Risks
There is always the possibility of things going exactly the opposite of how we expect. We, The Liberation Arts Cooperative Caretakers, refuse to let our fear of failure stand in the way of making a difference in our community. We intend to succeed. We have chosen flexible funding, so regardless of whether we make our goal of 10,000 dollars we will still receive your donations.
Thank you so much for your support!
