Summary
More shocking than a giant octopus destroying Manhattan! More disastrous than Richard Nixon's fourth term! More scandalous than betraying an American demigod! You will see, but you may not believe* what our documentary crew has recorded in their exclusive behind the scenes look at the making of Clockmen: The Musical. Melvin Morel, writer of the original Clockmen graphic novel, claims he has put a curse on the musical. Is he joking, or is there a real curse? Make your own conclusion as you meet the personalities behind the production: experimental Shakespearean director Danielle Trumbly, no stranger to ambitious, seemingly cursed failures. Rock star composer Jons, cursed to endure the slings and arrows of opinionated nerds. And star Brina Lisette, a young model struggling with her first big acting role... and, if she's telling the truth, with a problem so outrageous, I dare not spoil it. Is she crazy? Cursed? Find out by supporting The Making of a Superhero Musical on Indiegogo!
*As well you shouldn't, as this is a mockumentary a la Spinal Tap or Waiting for Guffman
What We Need & What You Get
I'm a student at Bard College and this is my plan for my Senior Project, a 25-30 minute mockumentary short building off my previous personal experiences with acting and directing, as well as my love of comedy, musicals, and graphic novels. The estimated budget requested is intended to cover space rentals (the film mainly takes place in one location, a rehearsal studio), pay for actors and a PA, and basic props and set decoration. I hope to make this the best mockumentary pop-culture parody psychological dramedy possible! Backers can get to see the film in various methods as well as receive bonus rewards.
Risks & Challenges
While the basic premise is set, there is a chance that in the writing process some aspect of this project branches off and turns into something different and unexpected (Annie Hall started off as a murder mystery, after all). In that case, I'll be sure to update this page and all my backers. You're going to get an awesome movie no matter what!
Other Ways You Can Help
Be sure to share this campaign with others. If you aren't able to give but want to support the project, this is a good way to help out. If you act, sing, are from the Boston area and interested in auditioning for the film, please email me at rb3187@bard.edu for more information on available roles and the audition process.
