If you ever heard about the Balkans, chances are - you also heard about our so called “war torn past”. Yeah, we’ve had more than one war in the past decades. Like - a lot more. And the last of them was the NATO bombing of what was then still called Yugoslavia. Well, The Myth… is the last Balkan film about the last of Balkan wars. But it’s also so much more than that. It’s a very personal story by our director and scriptwriter of how she and her family decided to immigrate to Canada, just as the bombing was about to start.
Our main character is Vasilije who, surrounded by his family, neighbors and frenemies, tries to decide between the feelings of duty to his closest ones and to what once was his country.
There’s an expression that you “wage” a war. With immigration on the other hand, you make a wager. With this film, we examine what exactly that wager is. What is it that you put on the line with one and the other?
As you can see from a lot of logos on our cover, we’ve been around with this project and it has received some official recognition. That means we already have some money for it but still not enough to actually complete the film. We cannot make it without your contribution. With all the financing we have so far, we are still missing 50.000 to shoot everything our very talented director envisioned.
We know that this is a large amount of money, optimistic of us to think we could attain it here. But fear not – any amount you can help us raise is precious to us and will go into the shooting expenses, rental of equipment, and will get us one step closer to our goal.
We know that you are doing this basically out of the goodness of your hearts and because you like films and art at least as much as we do.
