Kenny
Ballentine is a family-man, award winning filmmaker, author, public
speaker and nature guide. He is the creator of the feature-length
documentary film "Nature Kids", the author of "The Nature Connection
Pyramid" and the founder of The Nature Kids Institute. Kenny’s mission
in life is to bring the wonders of the natural world into the lives of
children everywhere. He envisions a future where our everyday lives
will be as immersed in nature as they are in technology and where
children are outside, healthy, and deeply connected to the planet they
will inherit. The primary focus of Kenny’s films, workshops, speeches
and outings is to turn that vision into a reality. Kenny currently
lives in beautiful Northern California with his wife and three
children.
Tania Moloney

Tania
is passionate about helping families connect with nature and with each other. Her
childhood was filled with opportunities for outdoor adventures and she
made (and ate) LOTS of mud pies. She has a head and heart full of
cherished childhood memories of family camping trips, building
"cubbies", sleeping under the stars and playing with sticks.
Now with her own young family, Tania desperately wants those memories
and experiences for her children too. As a result she has happily
embraced that her kids will have perpetually dirty feet and her
pockets/car/washing machine/handbag will be permanently filled with
nature’s treasures. Tania
will share with you how she and her family make the choice for nature
(more often than not anyway) despite their busy life, and you’ll take
away lots of ideas, practical tools and resources to help you and the
families you support choose nature more often too.
Lear More About "Estamos Aqui"
Estamos Aqui! We are here! The Latino population is the fastest growing American demographic. They are also among the most under-represented groups in conservation, outdoor recreation, and environmental education organizations. What are the causes and consequences of this divide? What are the challenges and opportunities? In this feature-length documentary film we will uncover and celebrate the little-known but beautiful and vibrant Latino heritage for conservation and outdoor recreation. Latino families and individuals from all over the United States are already connecting with their history, their culture, their communities and the planet through powerful, meaningful and culturally relevant interactions with nature. In Estamos Aqui we will meet these inspiring people, hear their stories and discover how our connection to nature simultaneously makes us unique and brings us together.
Estamos Aqui is co-directed and co-produced by Kenny Ballentine and Jose Gonzalez. Ballentine is the director of the award-winning documentary film, “Nature Kids” and is the founder of The Nature Kids Institute. Gonzalez is the founder of Latino Outdoors and is a member of the Latino Conservation Alliance.
Filming has taken place all over America, including a kayak trip down the LA River, a family hike in Central Park in New York City, lobbying Congress in Washington DC, and a rare “”day at the park” for families from California's’ agricultural Central Valley. In September 2015 the film will have wrapped production and will be moving into post production. The first screening of the work in progress will be shown at the Americas Latino Eco Festival in Denver Colorado this October. It is anticipated that Estamos Aqui will begin public exhibitions in the Spring of 2016.
The Purpose of This Campaign
We plan to use the funds we raise through this campaign to pay for our first printing of "The Nature Connection Pyramid" to help us finish "Estamos Aqui" and to further expand the work of The Nature Kids Institute across the globe!
