Short Summary
Since 2018, we’ve hosted free and low-cost workshops teaching people of all ages and abilities the art of mosaic making. Through The Mosaic Workshop, we’ve led collaborative community mosaic projects all over Austin.
Now, we find ourselves with a serendipitous and unique opportunity to get our very own space and grow the mosaic movement!
We found a warehouse right next door to Broad Studios, and it’s perfect for expanding our workshops and programming. We’ve never had a place of our own before, and over 5 years we’ve built the momentum to make this happen. We are ready!
This space signifies potential for more workshops, bigger, more ambitious projects, and opportunities for anyone to learn how to mosaic. Here our community can connect, collaborate, and work together.
So we’re calling on you—our network of past workshop attendees, collaborators, fellow artists, partners, and friends—to help us take this big step forward. With your help, we can make our Mosaic Workshop dreams a reality. We can't wait to host you here and break tiles, make art, connect, and keep it glassy!

What We Need & What You Get
To prepare the studio and workshop space, we have A LOT of work to do. We estimate a startup cost of $20k, conservatively, for build-out. This includes transforming the space—stocking up on the necessary tools and materials, landscaping the yard for bigger projects and events, and building tables at the right height for mosaicking—to accommodate the wide range of workshops we will host.
Your contribution will go directly towards making the space functional and help with the costs of building materials and labor.
We have multiple donation levels based on what you want to contribute, with perks like:
- Mosaic Workshop Merch
- Reservations to attend a workshop
- Studio Memberships
- Original mosaic artwork created by local artists
- Custom porcelain plaques with your name displayed in the space
The Impact
Whether you are a hobbyist with an interest in mosaics, a working professional, or never tried to mosaic but want to see the space come to life, we need your support now to create the one and only dedicated space for mosaic and glass art activities in Austin!
With your help now, we can jumpstart the moving process and open up to the public as soon as February 2024.

Risks & Challenges
We love a good challenge and trust that our proven track record of success will continue by growing this space into a creative resource for artists working in mosaic and stained glass. With nearly five years under our belt, we’ve completed dozens of projects and led thousands of workshop participants in Texas. We know there is a need to expand our workshops to hold space for the mosaic community to proliferate.
With a wide network and collaborative resourcefulness, we will make sure that with your invaluable support, The Mosaic Workshop HQ is ready for you!
