We're hugely sorry to cancel this campaign before we hit our goal, but we've recently acquired some new and linked licenses that means we can expand upon this story and do something a little different to what we had originally intended; still featuring Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart.

Do keep an eye on the social media of AUK Studios and Chinbeard Books for exciting news in the very near future.

Thank you very much for supporting this and we think you'll enjoy the bigger and broader story that we are now able to make, when it's announced

Prior Campaign Words

"WE DEAL WITH THE ODD, THE UNEXPLAINED, ANYTHING ON EARTH, OR EVEN BEYOND..."

What if the Brigadier from Doctor Who was involved with a Hammer Horror type film, undercover, and enlisted the help of the actor who was playing the lead – a certain Jon Pertwee?

That’s the unique comedy/horror premise of this full colour, feature-length, graphic novel we hope you’ll pre-order, where aliens are the real power behind The Smell of Death film that’s being made and distributed in order to take over the world (aren’t those pesky aliens always after that?).

The publishers, Chinbeard Books, in partnership with Andrews UK (and AUK Studios), have been putting out Doctor Who-related and cult TV memoirs and charity anthologies for a fair few years now; as well as writing new and official adventures for classic TV series like Robin of Sherwood and classic TV comedy like The Goodies.

Our most recent production was a joint full-cast 2 x CD and a softback novelisation of Children of the Circus (an official sequel to the Doctor Who television serial, The Greatest Show in the Galaxy – which featured ALL of the surviving cast from that 1988 classic, courtesy of an official licence by the original writer, Stephen Wyatt).

We’ve also included our own creation in The Smell of Death, who has her own three-volume set of graphic novels about her. She’s called Perfect, and she’s anything but. A clumsy and but kind-hearted spy for MI6, who is teaming up with the Brigadier undercover, so find out what spooky goings-on have been happening behind the scenes. She’s also been cast as the co-lead, opposite Jon Pertwee, in her screen debut… and even doing a simple take of a scene is catnip for calamity when Perfect is added into the mix.

"MOST OF THEIR WORK'S SO SECRET, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING THEMSELVES..."

All we are looking for is, essentially, a pre-order number that will cover the cost of the creative talent involved and the publishing costs associated with this.

Our talented cover artist, Adrian Salmon, has a style a lot of Doctor Who fans will recognise (he's been responsible for some amazing strips). He's provided us with this gorgeous front for our graphic novel-to-be, which we don't want to fully reveal quite yet (unless you signed up via the pre-launch page, in which case you will have seen it - but here's the Brigadier from it...

We're very lucky to have the interior strip drawn by Miguel Guzman (here's an example of a page of his work below)...

Miguel provided us with a few 'character sketches', when we were developing this, of the Brigadier, Perfect, and Jon Pertwee...

We've also got award-winning graphic designer, Robert Hammond, on board - who'll be making the graphic novel look as good as it can be; he'll also be our letterer and colourist too. He's created artwork and Special Features for the BBC's Doctor Who DVD range, and penned the irreverently funny Time & Space & Time.

And, finally, Barnaby Eaton-Jones, will be writing the story/dialogue from his own treatment (he also created the character of Perfect too). He's predominantly known as a producer/director these days, but he was originally a writer for theatre, television documentaries, and full-cast audio dramas/comedies (as well as Doctor Who Magazine).

There has been a long line of vintage and modern comic strips where Doctor Who is concerned, from the hallowed pages of TV ActionCountdown, through the long-running Doctor Who Magazine Weekly and Doctor Who Magazine, and up to the recent Cutaway Comics team (who provide classic characters a new lease of life, like we do). We're rather proud of following in their footsteps.

We've also published award-winning collections of Robin of Sherwood strips (from the iconic magazine, Look-In), as well as The Tomorrow People strips too. There's more to come from us with those, but we hope our track record of awards and quality publications will take away any worry you have in pre-funding this via Indiegogo.

"I AM BRIGADIER LETHBRIDGE-STEWART. SURRENDER NOW AND WE CAN AVOID BLOODSHED..."

As with any creative project, there are risks and challenges but we're confident, if the support is there for this, they can be easily overcome.

Publishing costs have been kept to a minimum, and the creative talent are all on board for less than they would normally charge for their work - because they love the subject matter, as well as being inspired by the passion and imagination this series still creates in everyone who becomes a fan of it.

Our aim is to deliver this in September 2024 - exactly 35 years since the last TV appearance of the Brigadier in 'Classic Who' (in the last episode of the 1989 serial Battlefield, where he saves the day). However, if it is completed earlier than that, we'll make sure it gets sent out when it's finished. We'll keep you updated on the progress and share a few sketches and panels and behind-the-scenes shenanigans.

"DO YOU THINK FOR ONCE YOU COULD MANAGE TO ARRIVE BEFORE THE KNICK OF TIME..."

If you're able to pledge, and even if you're unable to pledge, we'd really appreciate you sharing this crowdfunding campaign as far and wide as you can.

Do use the Indiegogo sharing tools to do that, and let's see if we can find all the fans of the Brigadier worldwide to allow them a chance to read something unique and official.

Thanks very much for reading. We hope you'll want to help fund this in any way you can. We appreciate it!
