The State of The South Bay Spot – Call to Action

In December, the shareholders of Heart’s Delight Studios voted to dissolve their organization. This decision put The South Bay Spot in an exciting but perilous position. The Spot will be able to offer much more to our current and future members, as well as continuing to offer a space for other community groups to rent in the South Bay.

Some of the new possibilities include:

• Equipment of the month program
  
• Member private space rental
  
• Dinner parties
  
• Easier population specific parties for Men’s, Women’s, and other specialized Communities
  

However, this change has also put The Spot in a position where we need to come up with a significant amount of working capital to keep our doors open.  This capital will be used to take over the lease and fund our operations while we make the operational changes necessary.  What is needed?

In order to meet the lease requirements, administrative fees and other costs, The Spot will need at least $7,000, plus the continued involvement of our members – Whether it is attending the events or volunteering to take point on exciting new programs and your ideas.

We don’t have a lot of time to raise these funds. We need to raise the money by Thursday, February 12th.

We are using Crowdfunding to raise these funds. This means that what you pledge will not be collected unless the full amount needed is reached.

If the pledges reach $8,000, we will knock down the wall separating spaces A and B. This will open up the space and allow the social area to remain inside with the extra space of the tent continuing as another social space.

If the pledges reach $9,000, we will fast track the Suspension Frame.

If we fail to raise the $7,000 by February 12th, we will be forced to close our doors on February 28, 2015.
