The Sun Exchange is a market place that connects people wanting to invest in solar energy with people that want to access it.
Through The Sun Exchange anyone wishing to see their wealth increase whilst doing good, can buy and then lease on solar cells so that community centers, schools, businesses, factories and even whole neighbourhoods can achieve their goals of going solar and reduce running costs.

The Sun Exchange hosts solar projects worldwide, so you can choose to own solar cells across a portfolio of projects upon which the sun will never set.

About Us
I’m Abraham Cambridge, an international solar energy professional from the UK. You can read more about my career and accolades here.
I have set up several businesses globally that use solar energy as a basis for positive change in society and I now live in Africa, a continent rich in natural beauty and drenched in sunlight. And it is developing - fast. It is on that basis that I launch my new and world changing solar energy venture, The Sun Exchange.
Despite my best efforts in the past, there are still two problems in the world, both of which The Sun Exchange can solve:
- Our global financial system has become overly reliant on fossil fuels, such as oil and gas, which is the root cause of global political conflict due to the value our financial systems place on these resources. If you have an institutional investment fund, it is most likely that some or all of your money is being used to discover and exploit these commodities.
- Our electricity grids are still largely run on fossil fuels, resulting in irreversible climate change, threatening life as we know it.
This needs to change, and distributed democratic solar power on a global scale is the key.
But, there are hindrances slowing down the solar economy. Some people cannot afford solar power and the sun doesn’t always shine. In the absence of affordable loans from mainstream lenders, the solution is peer-to-peer lending: individuals co-investing in another person's or a community's low cost solar electricity supply.
Problems solved? Not quite, because it is a cosmic certainty that the sun will go down every day and the electricity production and revenue stops.
The Sun Exchange is going to build the solution. A global platform integrating a network of solar projects, streaming monetized sunlight 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. How? By hosting solar projects from every continent; the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. This means that:
- investors can constantly be earning money from the sun;
- those that need solar power will have access to low cost loans funded from a global pool of investors.

What We Are Going To Do
We already own a crowd-investment platform and have the in-house expertise to identify and validate solar projects to populate it. We now need to build a capital war chest to achieve our overall goal of building a global network of solar assets for lenders to crowd-fund. The more money we raise, the larger our coverage and the bigger our impact will be. We also want to focus on making the user experience as cool and interactive as possible. Ultimately, we want to create the world’s first solar energy stock exchange.
If you would like to see this happen, please help fund us so we can:
- Hire a a well-known global legal advisory to prepare and tailor our Power Purchase Agreements and Roof/Ground Lease Agreements for each country that we want to operate in (USA, Chile, Brazil, Australia, Spain, South Africa, UAE, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Japan, China, India) to ensure long-term and reliable revenue from our projects.
- Register as a Credit Provider in each country listed above.
- Develop our platform and mobile application to the point of perfection: smooth, real-time, interactive and engaging.
- Integrate and develop a proprietary block-chain payment and smart contract network into our financial system to allow practically instantaneous cross-border transactions at no cost. This will enable you to invest in a solar project anywhere in the world, and allow us to stream the revenue directly to your digital wallet. - Build gamification elements into the investment platform. Leadership boards and user rewards (‘Investor Points’) will add a sense of competition between lenders.
- Cover up-front development costs for projects, such as planning permit fees and structural surveyors, to ensure our solar plants will be safe and secure in the long term.
- To host educational and exciting launch events for each of our projects.
- To fit our solar PV systems with low-energy cryptocurrency mining, enabling the conversion of surplus electricity into digital tokens that are 100% backed by solar energy and can be traded, thereby monetizing energy efficiency.

Will It Work? What Can Go Wrong?
Our team has over a decade of combined experience developing crowd-investment and solar projects. We have a very good idea of the sorts of issues we are likely to encounter.
1. Not enough projects. A bottleneck could occur if the amount our lenders want to invest exceeds the total volume of available solar investment opportunities. We are overcoming this by developing relationships with some of the world's top solar development companies. Many developers are constrained by a lack of funding for projects on the 10kW to 1MW scale. It is exactly these projects that The Sun Exchange will be able to crowd-fund, filling this finance gap.
2. Legal barriers. We will certainly encounter objections in some countries, slowing down progress. In South Africa, for example, it is not permitted to export solar energy onto the grid, so projects will be on a 'self-consumption basis only'. As long as our systems are designed to not generate a surplus, or incorporate electrical storage, the problem is solved. Quite simple really! Each country will have it's own challenges and hurdles to overcome, but that is why we need our war chest to help tackle these obstacles when they occur.
3. International bank transfer issues. Investments in our projects are open to everyone worldwide. We accept local (fiat) currency and Bitcoin. Transferring fiat currency between countries is often expensive and time consuming. We accept bitcoin so that you can invest in a solar project quickly, easily and securely wherever you are in the world.
4. Exchange rate volatility. Currencies are always changing against each other. So if you were to place all your investments in one country you could be losing out. This is exactly why we are building a global network, so you can invest in more than one country, thereby hedging your investment across several currencies.

Worst case scenario. We aren't conspiracy theorists, but if we get 'taken out', you know we are onto something big.
Q: How long will it take to build?
A: Our initial build is about 6 months away, and in the mean time we will be identifying projects to fund.
Q: How do we know we will get our payments once we have invested?
A: All of our solar projects will be fitted with tamper proof web-enabled smart meters which communicate constantly to The Sun Exchange platform. Lenders can log-in and verify the status and performance of the solar array at any time. The data communicated to our platform will be registered on the block-chain and instantaneously trigger a payment to your digital wallet. The process is entirely automated and transparent.
