So, why fund a theatre show?
My name is Hayley Pace and I am the founder of this project and Sneaky Sneaky Productions, the company. I am a graduate of the Devised Theatre & Design program at York University. Concurrent with my education, I have worked (in some aspect of theatre, or another) internationally in cities such as Antwerp, Prague and Edinburgh. I have assisted renown theatre designers such as Peter McKinnon, Phillip Silver and most recently, Broadway and television actress, Tovah Feldshuh who is best known for her role as Golda in Golda's Balcony and as Deanna Monroe in The Walking Dead.
I realize most independent theatre does not speak to a large portion of my generation. Truthfully, is also not necessarily their first choice on the "things to do tonight" list...and understandably so due to the popularity of "home-comfort entertainment" -- the internet, movies, television, video games. In response to this observation, our company wants to create theatre that absolutely needs to be seen live by using the power of surprise: an experience the comfort of your home cannot give you. We primarily focus on creating unexpected musical events within a theatrical setting that make our audience feel part of a shared experience.
What We Need
We need $5,000 for this project. You will be contributing to the following project fundamentals:

Venue rental (The Baltimore House, 43 King William Street, Hamilton, Ontario. Includes full sound and lighting fixtures, light control console, mixer, licensed and operational bar, SOCAN licensed, capacity: 80-100)

Sound equipment purchases/rentals (Pyle vintage-style microphone and swing stand, 1 monitor, 4 amplifers [vocal, electric piano, electric guitar & bass], 7 headset microphone wireless systems, 1 drum kit harness, 1 clarinet rental etc.)
- A professional tuning of the in-house piano

Prop purchases (2 domestic fans, pack of confetti, earphones, 10 slices of fresh cheese pizza [for every show] and 10 different toppings etc.)

Printing costs (15 copies of the script, schedule, contract, full score/libretto, 50 posters, 120 postcards, 100 show programs etc.)

Costume purchases/rentals (13 jazz hats, white dress shirts, black pants, fabric for waist/neck scarves, various styles of suspenders, ornamented and custom design suit jacket for pianist, fox-onesie for singer etc.)

Transportation (van rental for load-in/load-out, car/GO Bus fare to and from Hamilton for festival events such as Art Crawl, Hamilton Fringe Company Launch etc.)

Website fees (iPage, Wordpress etc.)

The Impact
The power of surprise removes us temporarily from everyday life and inspires us to believe the unexpected is possible. This is especially powerful when there is no division between the performer and the audience. In the midst of excitement and ecstasy, we watch a musician pour their heart into their music and we, as the spectator, relate with this passion and vulnerability.
We want to create something that is loud, energetic and accessible to a non-theatre going audience -- something impossible to feel from the comfort of the home. With your contribution, we are working towards making a shared music experience that is affordable and with respect to the limitations of budgeting for independent theatre.
Previous projects include YUFFA Fringe's Nudity, Free Beer, Good For Kids which premiered at the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe raising nearly $800 with the help of a campaign. Because of your help, the show could tour to The Box Toronto and we played to a sold-out house, taking home the 2015 Audience Choice Award.
Risks & Challenges
We are mostly comprised of university students and/or recent graduates of music and theatre programs. Our experience in show-making and music making is limited professionally to our time of study. To combat this challenge, we are seeking mentorship from our professors who are well-versed in these fields to guide the development of the show. Future aspirations include bringing the show to an established theatre company incubation program in Toronto.
