Help us make a positive impact through film!

The world needs positive messages during this tumultuous time, and the moral of our story is that "We're all on the same rock!” Despite our differences we are in this together!
We have a roster of talent that is passionate about telling this story. Director Michael Cawood has worked for Disney, Warner Brothers, DreamWorks, Fox, Universal, Sony, Nintendo, etc... on blockbuster films including Pete’s Dragon, Happy Feet, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Fast & The Furious 7 among many others. His previous short film Devils Angels and Dating has over 11 million views online so we anticipate a viral release for The Wrong Rock. Other key team member credits include Guardians of the Galaxy, Cars, Angry Birds, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Hotel Translavania 2. Industry veterans from Disney, Dreamworks and Pixar have endorsed the film. We’re working with a team of animators from around the world, and the short is already 50% completed. In order to make the highest caliber film and reach the widest audience, we need your support.
How we would spend the funds
![]()
3D computer animation requires specialty software and equipment which can cost a lot of money.

Covers high priority costs.
![]()
Covers all "out of pocket" hard costs, and expands our reach with the festival run.

All backer perks will be upgraded to include a short "Making of" documentary and the opening chapters of the Story eBook.
![]()
All perks will be upgraded to include a medium length "Making of" documentary, a download of the main theme as n MP3 and some sample pages from the "Making of" Art eBook.
![]()
All perks will be upgraded to include a full length "Making of" documentary and the director will make a fool of himself dancing on camera to celebrate reaching the stretch goal that will allow us to pay all our team members a fair wage for their hard work, which means the film gets made faster and at a higher quality as team members can go full time. It will reach it's widest possible audience in the most impactful version we can make. We might even try for an Oscar run!
What you get
![]()
We have some unique perks planned including:
- Naming a character in the film, after yourself or as a gift to a loved one. Either way it's a perk that will last, remember: pain is temporary, but film is forever!
- We have several initiatives lined up to share our progress in a way that helps to educate other filmmakers including a website that will fill up with behind the scenes content, a book about the making of the film and even a documentary if we reach some of our higher stretch goals.
- We have a great book based the story of the film written by published author JP Cawood, who's previous books include 'Love from Mars' and 'Sam and the Secrets of the Universe'. It features the same beautiful artwork created for the development of the film by artists Arturo Velasco and Solomon Gamino.
- We're offering you the opportunity to give your voice to a character in our film. Just note that they're not speaking parts... so you'd be creating the sounds of a toadstool brought to life... of course this perk includes a credit on the film.
- For the animators out there we're offering a bundle of character rigs for use in Maya from both 'The Wrong Rock' and 'Devils Angels & Dating'.
- We're even offering some lucky backers the opportunity to follow the progress of our edit as it develops. It's updated roughly every week for the team and you can see every update as it's posted including all the edits ever created going back to the film's inception in storyboard and script form.
- We've also put together a nice design to remember the project by which will be available on T-Shirts, Mugs and Posters.

The Impact
![]()
We'd like to think we're making a film that will be seen by millions, but more than that, will be shown to millions of kids for years to come helping to build a foundation for a more equal society, giving opportunities to everyone to reach their dreams and make a difference in the world.

We have many more talented team members currently lending their skills to the project. We've been using the online virtual studio, Artella, founded by the same team that run Animation Mentor to manage the project, and it's going extremely well. See what industry veterans have said about the project at our website, TheWrongRock.com.
Challenges
![]()
Making an animated film is a huge undertaking, and not one to be taken lightly. But our team leads have done it many times before so it's in safe hands. The challenge is making sure that this project has enough funding available that the team can afford to dedicate their time to the project full time without taking other work to pay the bills. Projects like this rarely have the luxury of a full time team outside of a major studio, and life often gets in the way leaving great projects on the shelf. But with your help we will try to get as close to a funded film as possible to make the most impactful version of the film we can in a reasonable time frame.
