In July 2014 my 17 year old son, James, got diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma Type III B. One day he was going about his summer then he started feeling tired, and weak. He went to the doctor who ordered tests, but before the tests could be done he was admitted to the Jersey City Medical Center emergency room, then transferred at the end of the day to Beth Israel Newark (The Valarie Fund) and the fight in earnest to figure out what he had before it killed him.

One month and one more hospital transfer later we had our definitive answer and they began aggressive treatments to combat an even more aggressive cancer that was growing and changing before our eyes. The lymph-nodes in his chest and neck were growing furiously, protruding out of his body like a Stegosaurus' bony plates. In his chest they built up pressure causing a build up of fluid around his heart and fluid in his lungs forcing him to be on oxygen part time.

His oncology team at NYU Langone Medical Center were amazing. They did everything they could to bring it under control while doing the least amount of damage to his body.

On December 31st, 2014 he finished the last round of his treatments. Going through Chemotherapy and Proton Radiation Therapy in amazing time with incredible results.

He is waiting now to be declared finally cancer free.

Getting ready to go back to school with his classmates again, and enjoy his senior year before he heads off to Rutgers University. He has been strong through this all, and kept in good spirits, and we as a family have worked to do the same.

Now we have to face the cost of the miracles that were worked through human and divine means to give him a full chance at life.

They are staggering but not impossible. When weighed against the value of one alive, brilliant light that can bring good into the world they are minuscule. All we need is a little help to make it all doable, and so I am asking humbly for your help whatever it maybe.
