TrulySanctuary Apparel is joining the eco {nomically & logically} responsible movement of creating spectacular tiny spaces. We have become so enamored with the "Tiny House" trend and plan to play on similar ideas to create our first storefront: a micro retail space located in the heart of "The Alphabet District," an emerging neighborhood connecting Nob Hill and the Pearl District in NW Portland, Oregon. Any funds exceeding our goal will be put towards manufacturing our garments locally and ethically right here in Portland!
We are Ron and Beth Remsberg, husband & wife, designers, screen printers and co-owners of TrulySanctuary Apparel. After 7 years of online retail and traveling, we have made Portland our home. Portland has a strong dedication to supporting small local business and we are constantly contacted by locals inquiring where our storefront is. We have started delivering orders locally to meet this demand. Based on the amount of local sales we are making in person and online, it's definitely time for our first storefront!
We’ve never met with investors or borrowed from banks. We are self taught in everything we do. Every aspect of our business has been grown responsibly by us through savings, hard work and patience. We are so grateful for this platform, because it’s allowing us to enlist the help of those who have already said they believe in us. We can remain debt free and pay it back creatively with the resources we already have!
Step 1: Find a Suitable location.
Done & Done. We’ve procured the perfect tiny space to create the TrulySanctuary MicroBoutique. It happened faster than we originally planned, but we would have been crazy not to act. The location for the price is a phenomenal rarity in this city and we believe, the key to making our dream a sustainable success.
Step 2: Transforming the space…and fast!
We need your help decking it out and filling it with product in record time. With a few local friends, we plan on working our hearts out until this project is completed. We hope to take advantage of the holiday foot traffic before the season has totally passed. Our goal is to be open by the 1st Thursday in December. Yep, less than a month. The first Thursday of every month is a huge event in Portland and a prime opportunity to let people know we are here and can help with their last minute holiday shopping. We also like the idea of a short campaign, so we can all get back to our regularly scheduled friendships. Asking, begging and nagging everyone we meet for contributions sounds awful…watching our dreams come to fruition through the help of a supportive community sounds breathtaking. Let’s do this!
Step 3: Going above and beyond for the greater good.
If you strive to help us surpass our campaign funding and we strive to come in under budget all additional funding will be put towards our next crucial business goal; having our blank garments manufactured right here in Portland! We want to give back to our local economy. More importantly, we want to be able to look in the eye everyone who is affected by the creation of our products. We no longer want to just take a long distance supplier’s word for it, but want to know without a doubt that the human beings creating our blank garments are being treated like human beings. We want to be a bus ride away from delivering hugs and donuts and not left wondering what their lives are really like.
Opening a retail space in one of the most popular parts of town in record time sounds like a pretty costly and impossible venture. Ron and I are ambitious DIYers and we invite you to follow the stunning transformation as we conquer it on a strict budget and in less than a month. We know we can do it, but we need your help! Please look through the fun perks, contribute and spread the word. We hope that you will have the opportunity to visit in person and see firsthand the dream YOU made come true! Warning: Admitting to us in person that you contributed to our dream may result in hugging, squealing, awkward jumping in place and possible happy tears, so please do so at your own risk. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
