UNARMED is going to NYC!
We are Philly based artists looking to make a social impact on our community.
Short Summary
UNARMED is putting on FREE show to the public next week in New York at Judson Memorial Church! Our mission since the inception of this project 2 years ago is to create a space for conversation around issues of race and privilege through our artistic practice. Thanks to generous individual giving, our 2015 Philly Fringe show was a success! We are excited to be continuing this work and need your help to make it just as successful as the first. Putting on a free show means we get to share our work for a diverse audience, including people who don't always have access or money to experience art. This is amazing but it doesn't eliminate the expense it costs us to make the piece. Giving to this project doesn't only support us; it supports the work of all artists developing sustainable lives on their own terms. Advocate for the value of art in our society! We've raised $1585 so far and the money raised here will go towards our $3000 goal. Please consider a donation of any amount, and we hope to see you at the show next week!

More About The Art
We are diverse bodies colliding with one another. Our gestures are simple and repetitive, architectural and soulful. UNARMED is a contemporary response to racial tensions in America. The character of the Fallen Black Man pushes past the news flash, asking the viewer to come to grips with their feelings about the naked body on the floor. Meanwhile moving bodies disrupt the stillness with violent physicality and jarring uniformity.
UNARMED holds space for all of us to question our privilege and position to (insert: black girl magic, hyper-sexualization, "good hair," acceptable behavior, etc).
We embrace a messy conversation.
