My name is Melanie Manganaro. I am currently a senior at the University of Kentucky studying animal sciences.
This June, I hope to be traveling with a group of UK pre-vet students to Costa Rica for a veterinary service trip through VIDA, Volunteers for Intercultural & Definitive Adventures. During this trip, I will be traveling to Costa Rica and Nicaragua to provide free medical services to needy animals. Our services will also help lower the population of stray and feral animals in Central America.
I will obtain tons of hands on, mind enriching, service learning experience with animals. Furthermore, I will work alongside veterinarians from Costa Rica that have their own practices, but volunteer for VIDA on top of their career. This is a high quality educational program that will allow me to gain clinical and practical experience in the field of Veterinary Medicine.
I hope that if financially capable, you choose to help me. This program is a wonderful opportunity that will prepare me for veterinary school. Through volunteering, I will help the animals obtain the right amount of veterinary care that they need. This is a once in a life time experience that I can only get from volunteering for VIDA.
Unfortunately, I lack the proper finances that would allow me to take this trip. I would be more than grateful to have the opportunity to care for the animals in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I can only do this trip with the help of you.
The cost of the trip is $1,870 and covers ground transportation, airport pick up/drop off, lodging, Bilingual Health Professionals, guides, interpreters, supplies/materials for clinics, most meals, tours, and border and immigration fees. The estimated total for this two-week trip, including airfare, is roughly $3,000.
Regrettably, I have an extremely small window in which to come up with some of the finances for this trip. The deadline for the trip balance is April 25th, 2013. I would truly appreciate your help in regards to this opportunity. Any Donations will be greatly appreciated.
Yours Respectfully,
Melanie Manganaro
