Hey, it’s Rylan at The Vic Shop. If you don’t know about me I’ll tell you that I’ve been in love with and working on Victory’s since 2002, and have run my own Victory specific shop out here in Central Iowa for the last 9 years now.
The more time that passes since Polaris decided to discontinue Victory, the more I realize how much Victory appeals to me and the many other loyal owners I encountered every day. There is nothing else like Victory on the market and I’ve made up my mind to stick with my Vic’s and continue to love them forever. Many of you folks out there feel the same way. So a while ago I told myself that I’d do what it took to keep the bikes on the road and keep the Victory…..lifestyle (is that the right word?) alive.
Our shop specializes in Victory work, we hold special events, we make useful, Vic specific, video tutorials, use social media to disseminate Victory specific knowledge and culture., and generally try to be good ambassadors of our chosen brand.
So, to further that agenda of brand enthusiasm I’ve been tossing around the idea of a Victory specific, web-based, “TV Show” all about Victory bikes and culture. This show would have segments devoted to Victory specific subjects on Maintenance, Performance, Brand History, and Culture. I hope to make 4 episodes a year – quarterly – that you can watch on Youtube, Facebook, or our website. I’m sure you all have seen the great quality videos Ryan Buck makes for our shop (if not, check out the Vicbuilder channel on Youtube). You can expect the same high-quality entertainment out of the show I have planned.
But I need your help. These videos take a lot of time and money. I run a VERY busy shop and I only have a budget for so much. I find myself thinking that “I’m sitting here on such good opportunity to make a very cool, fun show that will enhance a person’s Victory motorcycle ownership experience” – what’s stopping me. OK, well, it’s the money that’s stopping me.
So, if you like the idea of a high-quality show that will include a segment of time devoted to technical knowledge and maintenance of Victory motorcycles – you need to donate. If you like the idea of that show also having a portion highlighting Victory specific performance enhancements and fast bikes – you need to donate. If learning about the history of an American bike brand being created from scratch appeals to you, you need to donate. Lastly, if the thought of watching a show where Victory specific events, manufacturers, owners, enthusiasts, and bikes from all over the Nation (and world) are neatly wrapped up into a high-quality video you can watch from home – you need to donate!!!
And if the thought of “My Gawd, I want a show that has all that wrapped up into one!” – you need to donate! With the structure of the show this way I hope you’ll see that the whole Victory community is going to get something out of this.
I’d like to raise an initial $7500 to get the pilot episode off the ground and leave some seeds for the next one. Ultimately, I’d like to whittle each episode down to around three to four thousand, but we’ll learn a bunch from the pilot. In a perfect world we’d raise enough for a whole season. When Ryan Randall from 801 and I raced our boosted Victory’s in Colorado this Spring that video was watched over 16 thousand times on Facebook and youtube. If everyone had put in a dollar we’d have almost enough to run a whole season of episodes! Imagine what a bunch of 10 dollar, 20, 50, 100 dollar donations could create! In my mind I anticipate episode length to easily be about 45 minutes or so.
So, this is me, Rylan Vos, owner of The Vic Shop, saying to you – Victory enthusiast. Help keep our brand alive, help keep the brand vibrant and relevant. Have you ever said to yourself – “Victory could have done a better job with marketing”. Well – here is OUR chance. Help me make something cool, that we’re proud of, and that gets you excited about the bikes and community we love to be a part of! Donate now. Thank you!
