This is Dr. Mary Cianfrocca, my oncologist at Banner MD Anderson in Gilbert, AZ
Although she says that she no longer thinks I have IBC (rather I have invasive ductal carcinoma, metastatized to my bones & lymph nodes) I think this is a fantastic video that shows her in her element: positive, smart, and supportive. I am fortunate to have her leading Team Vicky.
As part of my cancer treatment I need to take a drug called xgeva (denosumab). This is a drug which will strengthen my bones. I need this drug because the cancer-fighting chemo drugs leave me at much greater risk of bone fracture. However, I cannot start the xgeva until I get some major dental work done.
Why I need the money
I still have about $1,800 left from my last campaign, which raised over $3,200 in cash and credit card donations. It could well be that this is all I need for my dental work. However, I have MANY more medical expenses that are not covered by the Medicaid program I am currently enrolled in. For example:
- GAS - I'm traveling to Gilbert 2 - 4 times a week, 41 miles each way
- Wigs, hats, scarves - hair loss and other "aesthetic" expenses are not covered
- OTC meds & vitamins such as alleve and calcium, so I don't have to be so drugged up!
- Special foods, such as guanabana pulp and stevia sweetener
- My prepaid phone card -- I had to go to unlimited minutes which costs an extra $15 per month
Last time I went to the dentist ...
About 2 years ago for a cleaning and xrays. He told me I had several cracks in my teeth and needed about 8 crowns. I am holding down expenses by:
- Shopping around for the best price
- Only getting done what I absolutely need in order to start the xgeva
- Brushing and flossing and holding off on sweets
I know folks are hurting for money like me, so I have a much lower goal this time. Also everyone's prayers have been very much appreciated. If you cannot donate, a prayer and/or sharing my campaign with others can help me out more than you may realize.
Thank you and God Bless!
