A Short Summary

My name is Lexi Lynch, I'm 19 years old, and I am, and always have been, an animal lover. Whether it be dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, horses, goats, I want to help out. In my family we have always rescued our dogs and cats, and after moving in with my boyfriend we have rescued multiple reptiles.
This campaign is to help me raise money for my flight to New Orleans, Louisiana where I will be taking part in the Bully Boot Camp at Villalobos Rescue Center. Villalobos is one of the world's largest rescues of pit bulls and other bully breeds. I fell in love with this shelter after seeing their show on Animal Planet called "Pit Bulls and Parolees". Their program not only gives dogs a second chance, but parolees as well where they give them work.
As I mentioned before, I have always been an animal lover and want to do my part. When I heard that Villalobos was running their Bully Boot Camp I knew I had to sign up and find a way down there. I have already held a benefit concert for this group and it just didn't feel like enough. I want to go down there, get dirty, and really make a difference in these dogs' lives.

What We Need

For this trip my flight will cost somewhere's around $200. Being that I work at a small pet store and have to make rent, it's turning out to be more difficult to save it up than I had expected. The rest of the money that I raise will be going to buying supplies needed to both work at the shelter and to buy supplies on their wishlist that will be going towards the dogs.

I'm not sure how well this campaign will work, but hopefully I can at least get some of the money needed for this trip so I can achieve my dream of helping a shelter that has really motivated me to make more of a difference in the lives of this misunderstood breed.

The Impact

"Unfortunately Pit Bulls are their own worst enemy – their loyalty and devotion make them the perfect victim. Have we already forgotten about Petey? He was the loyal ring eyed dog of the Lil Rascals. Yes, Petey was a Pit Bull! You see the dogs themselves haven’t changed – we have!

We’ve turned these All American Family dogs into the killing machines of the ’90′s. It is our responsibility to turn this around. We owe it to them. After all, aren’t they man’s best friend?" - An excerpt from Villalobos' website

It takes a lot to take in the amount of dogs they have (averaging at 150 dogs), and every dollar and helping hand helps. The benefit concert that I ran didn't raise as much money as I had hoped, but I know with that money they can pay for the many vet bills they face on a daily basis. I know with that money they can buy a treat or toy that will make a dog's day. I know with that money they can probably feed a handful of dogs that really need that food. I know with that money, I did what it is I could at that time.

But now I have the chance to go down there and really make a difference, and I will do anything to make sure this trip happens.

Other Ways You Can Help

Even if you can't afford it, please spread the word about my trip, and also about the wonderful haven that Villalobos Rescue Center is for dogs that are truly in need.
