Welcome To Oneg is set in an alternate world where supernatural creatures, called “ODS”, have come out of the shadows to be a part of society. “For all your craves from the graves!” is Oneg's slogan: a chain of restaurants that caters to this peculiar clientele's tastes.
Our human protagonist Murray is a sweet and eager young man who finds himself in the Manager's office of the branch. Despite the constant interruptions from the chaotic employees, he'll have to convince the no-nonsense Sheila that he can be a good fit.
Will Murray be accepted into the Oneg team?
This short film is a 10 minute light supernatural comedy with gothic vibes and fun makeup effects that takes place in one room.

Absolutely! The idea for Oneg came from a need to tell a light-hearted story, at a time in my life when I questioned a lot of my job applications. Of course, it had to include supernatural creatures! So I decided to put them where I was: in a mundane setting. A place that we wouldn't define as cool or particularly interesting.
Yet I wanted my protagonist to be dedicated to his goals. Murray's journey through that interview is based on my experience as an immigrant who constantly has to justify a personal choice that others can't seem to grasp.
The film was written at the end of 2019, and after months of set preparations, countless script revisions, and intense rehearsals with the actors, it was filmed in early 2020 in New York City. The shoot took place in one fully packed day in a studio room completely redesigned by our Set Designer. I can't tell you how proud I am about everyone's hard work and at accomplishing a complete story!
After a break to reassess our budget and round up the people for the next phase, the film was ready to start its Post-Production... Sadly the whole world had to pause for a while.

Hi, my name is Delphine! I'm the Writer and Director of Welcome To Oneg.
Here's my quick bio: I'm a Filmmaker who comes from Paris, and I've been working in New York for the past five years (after trying out other cities I didn't love as much). I've made several shorts films in the past that were mostly in the supernatural genre. Stepping away from reality is my favorite way to tell stories: it allows us to say a lot with a maximum entertainment effect.
I also hustle in this industry in various ways, mainly on TV sets and documentaries as a Production Assistant or Media Manager. I've collaborated with a variety of artists, and even filmed chiropractic adjustments for YouTube. You never know what you'll end up doing in this business!
My Producer Leeah loved Oneg's idea immediately. She has produced several short films with me over the years, and became closely involved in every phase of this project. I couldn't have done this without her. As I share this idea with others, more people started to respond to the script's concept with incredible enthusiasm. They felt inspired to dig into it with me and add their own spin and talent.
Our awesome Director of Photography is a talented professional and friend who created with us Oneg's peculiar mood. Dest is a French comicbook artist who created the storyboard and the poster art that we used for set design. The rest of our cast and crew was put together with new colleagues who did a remarkable job. I look forward to working with them again in the future.
As for our wonderful cast, it's composed of fresh faces that are worth remembering:
Keon Torres plays our shy but enthusiastic Murray, Kristen Booth brings to life our tough no nonsense Sheila, and Ray Baptista is our sweet assistant Frankie. Keon and Kristen impressed us at the very first audition, while Ray anticipated quarantine by sending us the perfect home recording. This wonderful cast rehearsed tirelessly, and made this long rollercoaster of dialogue sound easy breezy.

Well, the film is shot, but now it needs to be completed. The teaser you can watch here is the very first minute edited by our Director (me). We think it already looks good, but the next phase will take it to another level.
It means that we need:
• an Editor to complete the cut and color correct the image.
• a Sound Mixer to clean up the sound and add some fun effects.
• a Music Composer to elevate all those feelings.
All these people have already been contacted and are on board to work on this project. That's why we are basing our financing goal off their quotes. We've worked with both our Editor and Sound Mixer before, and they're just as excited as I am to finish this film. They are ready to start as soon as the campaign is successful!
Every dollar we're asking is accounted for. If we surpass this amount, the extra money will go towards submitting the film to festivals with the hopes to share our work with as many as possible!

What's great about Post-Production is that it can be accomplished remotely. Either files will be sent digitally or hard-drives will be mailed, so our crew can work safely from their homes. All communications will be kept over calls, and payments will be made by transfer.
This all means no delayed work, and certainly no delayed payment for them!

Because you're generous! You're reading this because you're interested in supporting art and creatives, especially in these dire times.
I financed 80% of the film with my own money. The sudden lack of jobs has halted my plans to complete it.
On top of that, there's been no paid jobs available for most people in the Film and TV industry since the end of March. It would mean the world to be able to hire some colleagues who need the work.
Despite this setback, I'm determined to get through this last stage. There's a whole cast and crew who believe in this project and are excited to see what they've created. I hope you will be too!
Please help us finish our film and support our crew by backing this campaign, or sharing it on social media. With our eternal gratitude!
